Go for the Signature sandwiches as the first three on the menu are meats that they actually cook in-house and it makes a world of difference. I also tried Casino Queen which has "deli turkey" and it was terrible. Very flat in flavour, which was a complete 180 to the Kingpin which has homecooked pulled pork. Very flavourful with a delicious BBQ sauce. It's almost like these two sandwiches came from different places. The bread for both was a little on the stale side but not terribly so. Portion size is small but that's the entire industry in this economy. Also got a dessert, forgot the exact name, but it had peanut butter and looked like a Blondie. It was very delicious as well. Owner was nice to interact with.

Awesome sandwich with generous topping, and the guy (maybe owner I dont really know) greet me with a warm voice. It took time for me to decide as this is my first time coming, but I was able to figure out what I want, a Kingpin (pulled pork sandwich) and I add avocado and mushroom. The sandwich is beyond expectation, soft and delicate, I always add avocado in my sandwich whenever possible and this is the first place in Kingston I see it. Pork is nicely cooked, juicy and soft. Will try to comeback as much as I can since I work morning weekday and they only open until 3:30pm.

A hidden gem in downtown kingston. Once you find it you will return. The owners of mermaid are beyond friendly. They have created a menu that is so different from your everyday breakfast/lunch stops. The prices are perfect for what you get and if you like coffee, you get a large mug that get topped up often. Stop in and pay these guys a visit. You wont be dissapointed.

Casino queen sandwich, cucumber and pickled onion salad, peanut butter bar. I cannot STOP RAVING ABOUT THIS PHENOMENAL FOOD EXPERIENCE!!! The men who took care of us treated us with respect and dignity as first time guests. They were low on chick peas for their chick peas salads that we had ordered so they offered alternatives and we selected the cucumber minus the mint (not fans of including in our food) and not only did they deliver but they upsized to a larger portion. Everything is homemade with love and care. Total dedication to the sandwich craft art. First trip back to Kingston, since #Covid shut everything down and we WILL BE BACK!!! Please check this place out when you are here. They have several options for creative pallettes. They also...

My sister and I stopped in for lunch today. We ordered the Casino Queen and the Art of Almost (which allows your choice of 3 toppings - we asked the artist to choose the 3 toppings he thought would best suit the sandwich for us with the suggestion of Not too spicy, please). We asked for both full size sandwiches to be cut in half, so we could do tradesies and each sample both. DELICIOUS. Both 5 star sammies by my taste buds. Would gladly eat either again, but with many other menu items to explore I will definitely be tasting something new next time -- foreseeing many more next times. If you're in the Kingston region, you have a mouth, and you have not been to Mermaid Avenue Sandwich...
