Last update: the restaurant’s response is careless. Typically when food is served, there is a follow up by the server to see how everything is. This didn’t happen until my family had eaten their meals and we were waiting for the bill. I’m sitting there, having eaten 1 slice of bread, and gave my sausages to my husband because they were not well done as specified. Out of 3 adults, one adult didn’t receive what they ordered. I also love the excuse of being busy for the terrible service. It’s not just about the food, the entire experience for $65 was robbery. No seat provided for a 2 year old, no common sense to provide crayons and paper knowing the wait was going to be long, having to wait way too long to get a cup of coffee, being told there was no manager when there was, not offering to take my meal off the bill. The server is the last line of quality check before the food reaches the patron. She knew what I ordered and still she served it and never came back. I was never called by the owner after leaving this review and calling the restaurant twice. This place is NOTHING like it use to be! They say it should be better than what your patrons can do at home, and I can cook an egg to medium and butterfly a sausage. I’ll be sure to tell everyone about my experience.
Update 2 (1 week later): no one has reached out to me. I was told by the Manager that the owner would call me as I have asked for a refund.
Update: my mother in law got sick shortly after me writing my review. I called the restaurant directly and I’ve been told the owner will reach out.
As a mom who never gets to go out and be treated, my family and I came in late morning with my 2 year old, mother in law and husband. First off, we were seated without seating for a toddler and had to wait 15 minutes to get a booster, and we were seated without crayons and colouring pages (things we expected from our first visit back in the summer).
After about 30 minutes our order for drinks and food were taken. We received our drinks about 35/40 minutes after being seated. Our 2 year olds drink came in a to-go coffee cup which didn’t go over well, just all over her.
My meal was $15 and I asked tor medium eggs and very well done sausage. When our food eventually came out, my meal was undercooked and not at all medium eggs or well done sausage. I waited the entire length of time it took my family to eat their food to let the server know, since she didn’t come back until it was time for the bill and their plates were done. I mentioned what had happened and I got sympathies. At the time the bill came she then offered us coffee refills (about 40 minutes too late), as we were ready to get the heck out of there.
The bill had a charge for my meal. I questioned this and said, I didn’t get what I ordered and I’m leaving hungry. The server said there was no manager and shrugged. I spent $65 today on 18oz of coffee, a few eggs, some sausages and warm bread (because the bread was not toasted). I spent $65 on East Side Mario’s last night and got two massive trays of pasta, lots of vegetables, 2 loaves of bread, huge family salad and an appetizer WITH delivery. I’m not understanding why eggs and bread and zero service cost me the same amount. I will only be back for a refund, not as a repeat customer. Things aren’t cheap anymore and it feels like robbery when these places charge what they do, and you can do it better at home for...
Read moreMy lateat experience is a great example of why Richies has been around and will be for years.
Sunday morning, perfect morning for an impromptu breakfast date with my gf. We decided go to a classic diner in the city, usually too full of students to even consider going to, but with school out we tried. Much to our surprise here was a great diner with only 3 tables and 4 staff, we were told to sit anywhwere. We picked a booth and sat within seconds we were greeted with menus, great we thought. Then the waitress walked away without asking for coffee or drinks?... wierd but it wasnt busy so we looked at the menu (typical diner breakfast, not crazy complicated) with a few minutes we have made our decision, menus putt together at that end of the table. Nothing. The servers are in the back table booth chatting. We were 2 booths away the restaurant was dead quiet. We could literally hear them chatting. A waitress walked by smiled and went to the other table offerd refills on their coffees made eye contact with us smiled and went back to the conversation . 2 more minutes pass, i am now antsy... i turn in my booth still just chatting... actually looking very bored. AGAIN EYE CONTACT MADE. THEY COULD SEE WE WERE READY TO ORDER. 5 more mins later we get up walk out no one stopps us no one talked to us. Very confused we stood in front of CAMPUS hifi stunned. Absolutely stunned. 4 tables in whole place and they could not serve us.
Not letting that ruin our day we decided to go to another London Classic Diner... Richie's. The place was hopping. 1/2 to 3/4 full constant stream of people in and out. We were greated, seated, and offered water and coffee within 1 minute. The difference was night and day. Our food was served hot and fast, it was delicious. Richies saved the breakfast date. CAMPUS HIFIs loss is Richies gain. Good services will...
Read moreHeads up: if you're vegetarian like myself, there aren't too many options for you, so just keep that in mind. There's obviously breakfast foods which are easier to make veggie, or the typical pancakes and french toast, but their salads, sandwiches, and other foods are mostly geared towards non veg individuals.
I ordered the greek omelette, on the menu it said the in brackets (tomato and feta cheese) so i thought oh maybe these are additional to make it greek, but i asked our server what was in it, and this omelette only consists of these two items, no other veggies, i'm sure if you wanted to, you could ask for other things in addition though.
With all of their omelettes, it comes with home fries, and 2 slices toast - cut up into 4 pieces (white, brown or rye). I ordered the rye toast, while my friend ordered the same greek omelette with white toast. The omelette itself was pretty good, a bit overdone on the edges but it was decent with the tomatoes and cheese. The home fries were not what i was expecting though, they were more so potatoes cut up, almost like the kind you see at Jimmy the Greek, instead of little crisp potato bites. The potatoes were a bit underdone and weren't super soft, warm or flavourful - also quite dry. The toast was good though.
At the end, we got up to pay at the cash, I looked at my friends receipt since she got the same dish as I did, but her receipt said $11.75 while mine said $12.25, so I asked the man at cash if they charge more for rye bread, and he told me "no we don't charge extra for certain breads" so he fixed it and was super sweet and apologetic about it, which...
