Ristorante Avanti — Restaurant in Ontario

My friend and I went to Avanti for dinner last night, and all I can say is that I am upset that I haven’t visited this establishment sooner. The restaurant boasts a wonderful combination of a quaint atmosphere with delicious food made from fresh ingredients. The all you can eat option is such an original touch to the menu, but be forewarned... as good as the bruschetta and Caesar salad (dressing made from scratch by the way) is, save room for the pasta and entrées which is equally delicious. I am excited to host my next event here as a family style service of courses is sure to impress my guests! The owner is involved in every dish that leaves the kitchen, thus it is evident that customer satisfaction is paramount. Prices are more than reasonable for what you get and I am just pleased that I have found this hidden gem. Intimate for a date night while also being wonderful for a family dinner. Another bonus would be an extensive cocktail and martini menu which we took advantage of. The tiramisu is also homemade and the portion is massive! Charming restaurant, well reputed, but don't come here alone and expect to choose from their vaunted combo menu options. Apparently one diner alone cannot do this, two minimum, and no this is not clear on the menu, it says "full table". Because it is unclear I specifically asked the server if I could still order the combo and was told sure. I had ordered my choices with the server without issue and was excited for 2 apps, 1 pasta and one main, when the owner called the server over and when we she returned I was told oops nope sorry can't do that, because I'm sitting alone. Food prep can't be the issue as roughly 12 other diners were happily eating. Chef/owner came over when I told the waitress I was disappointed I was being penalized for eating alone, but he didn't budge. Instead of owning that I was presented with a disappointing scenario, their fault, instead of gaining a happy customer and review, I was somewhat brusquely presented with the ultimatum of ordering my choices at full price or not, so walking out, and I chose the latter. Possibly a great restaurant, but I'll never know, and I don't appreciate wasting my time with an unnecessary bait and...

We held a small reception here after my wedding. The food was delicious and the restaurant had a warm cozy ambiance that made all of our guests feel welcome and like the dinner was in someone's home vs a big cold hall. Dan was very accommodating to us and once we got our supplies to him (table cloths, table numbers, cake) he made sure everything was ready to go when we arrived. The wait staff were great and warm to us and all of our guests, working hard all night to ensure everything ran smoothly, The food was delicious and an amazing bargain for amount we got for the price. Everyone left that night full and commenting on how great everything was. Dan went above and beyond to accommodate a guest of ours who had a food allergy, making a platter of gluten free pasta as well as a gluten free appetizer. He even whipped up cheese pizzas for the kids, who ate it up (the pizzas were a great size for the kids, definitely a great deal).
