Disgusting food and really awful service!!

Ate: vegetable fried rice and vegetable lo mein soft noodles $14. This was the second time this month that I have ordered these 2 dishes from China Gardens and both time the same results: Gross. The rice was dry and it was so overpowered with msg that I could taste it. There were no vegetables in it besides a few slivers of green onion. The lo mein noodles were very oily and lacked flavour. I could feel the oil all over my lips and they were nice and shiny. Good portion sizes, but poor flavour. I ended up throwing out the rice. This is worse than the chinese food you get at the mall. The only people who are giving good ratings are staff, family members, or people who have only ever ate cheap, "fast food" style chinese.

I picked up my meal and the service was terrible both times. The lady at the counter (the owner) was standoffish. She would only give me 2 soy sauce packets with my meal. The first time I just dealt with it because I was caught off guard. The second time she went on about how she'll sell me additional soy sauce packets (10 for $1) !!! I pointed out that I had just been there 2 times ordering $14 each visit and it was over a short period of time and that I wasn't going to be back since she won't even give a couple extra packets of soy sauce. (Oh, and don't bother asking for plum sauce packets unless you order an eggroll.) After she realized that I wasn't going to come back and I called her out on how ridiculous she was being, she gave me 4 extra soy sauce packets and told me "you people use too much soy sauce". Thanks. I told her that her food was bland so it needed extra soy sauce. She went on and on about how the soy sauce packets cost money and people want 8 of them with their order. I took my food and soy sauce and left. Make sure you have cutlery and napkins because those aren't provided. I gave this restaurant one star because the food was...

My kung pao Chicken was not fresh, wilted rubber veggies in it, came with SOuR Rotted rice ,also kung pao shouldn’t be swimming in thin liquid , at least add some starch to thicken the sauce or reduce the liquid in the pan . the sauce was thin as water . And I kno for a fact that’s not how it should be . The sauce itself tasted ok but I wouldn’t even call it a sauce is was like soup . I rarely complain but this wasn’t ok , and the rice that came with it was OFF rotting and sour .

Whoever is making this , they have lost all pride in their cooking and within themselves , you could have at least made sure the Rice wasn’t Rotting , cause if the rice would have been ok, I would have used it in all that liquid to soak it up and I wouldn’t be here giving a bad review even tho the kung pao isn’t authentic . Why are you giving out sour rice , put a time and date on your stuff so you kno when to make a new batch . How can you be proud of serving this , you can do better with minimal effort if you really wanted to , there is no excuse for something as important and as simple as rice .. it’s like they went dumpster diving for ingredients, get rid of the rotting stuff keep your frige clean of rot so it doesn’t infect the rest of your food so u lose less money.

I don’t like giving bad reviews but have some more pride and passion in your food , you can get ppl sick and in the end how would that make u feel good , it wouldn’t , but trying your best and keeping things at least fresh would make u prouder as owners , so your only harming your company by not addressing the quality dude . Sorry to say I had to throw most of my order out , so basically u took my money and gave me garbage or what should have gone in the garbage even before cooking . Ppl aren’t stupid people can tell it’s rotting and not ok , u have the power to change that u kno . If u did ppl would rate u higher ....

please note this review was for the previous restaurant that has since been purchased and is under new management… I have not tried the new place

I have been ordering from this place for almost 8 years now and I’ll be honest I have never left a review… but now I am and I’ll explain why in a minute. I’ve moved three times since I started ordering from them … we ordered from another place before and their food never tasted fresh so we decided to try this small place out…. Now the early on when we ordered we had one bad meal - the fried rice tasted burnt I called and they IMMEDIATELY re made it and brought us new fresh rice and since then we’ve been a fan … today makes us more of one and wants everyone else to support this small business. Their prices are reasonable and the taste is amazing and it always 👏🏻 tastes 👏🏻 fresh 👏🏻…. Well today we wanted something different than our dinner for two a combo so decided to pick it up … we talked and I mentioned how we have always ordered from them and how we never see them delivering the food now (I get it it’s not easy anymore) we mentioned where we lived prior to our current place and as soon as the husband clicked that it was across from no frills he was able to remember the address to the place before and even the make and colour of the car we had!!!!! Talk about MIND BLOWN 🤯 this in itself shows how they appreciate their customers and I’m so glad we decided to do pick up today because it brings me to this review. This isn’t somewhere to sit down and eat but you won’t be disappointed…. Thank you for China Garden for putting us in...

This place was the epitome of proper western-style Chinese food way back in the 90's. It was run by an old Asian man, must have been about 80 - yet, very light hearted in demeanor and pleasant in character. He would joke they don't accept coupons, while presenting him with them, again - in a very fun and a pleasant tone and a smirk with a subtle laugh. I miss that man. I was too young to care at the time, but he made an impression. I sorely wish he was still around as his food was always fresh, made in his kitchen (not frozen off the truck), and absolutely tasty. Today, China Garden is run by someone else, and along with the change in ownership, the food has also measly changed into offerings of destitute and lonely flavors. Nostalgia doesn't always reward. Lesson in all this, if you have a favorite restaurant today, do enjoy it, as it may not be around tomorrow, and all we can be left is an imitation of what once was.

Seng’s place is new replaced the old China Garden that was previously here. I was visiting London with a friend and was graciously welcomed with kind hospitality. I felt like a family member they hadn’t seen in forever even though it was the first time I step foot. I’m floored by the warm hospitality. If you’re in the mood for fast food Chinese food I’d definitely recommend it. However, if you’re looking for more of the authentic style it wouldn’t be your expectation (though I believe it’s because it’s tailoring to a London demographic). Either way there are tons of delicious options. My favourite things to recommend and are most popular is the fried rice and chicken wings. The portions were generous and I felt I got great value! I do prefer the Thai dishes here as the pad Thai hit the noodle craving. All in all, would definitely return :)
