I usually don’t like posting negative reviews but unfortunately after paying 75 dollars for a mixed 3-4 platter I was left with no appetite when seeing hair attached to a chicken in the platter. I could not continue eating unfortunately it just ruined my appetite. I don’t like making a big deal so I just mentioned I to the lady and she says she will be right back. She took our plate to the back and than brought it back to the table and said they checked the plate there is no more hair in there if you want to continue eating it. I was a caught off guard a little bit. As my appetite was gone I told her I wanted to take the food to go as I will not eat it, but if she could give me another platter because I wouldn’t eat that me. They agreed I paid and left. A day later I was eating the left overs and as I got to the bottom another strand of hair was there. I was in disbelief. I called the resturant to inform them and they told me they investigated and no one from the staff has hair like that and it must have came from the customer (me and I’m bald with no hair that is that long) or somewhere else. I was a little annoyed at the response as when I told him it couldn’t have been me and where else it could have come from he said our staff were covered up and no one has hair like that nothing else we can do. I explained in the to go container there was another hair at the bottom and he says it is material that sometimes comes in the containers from cardboard boxes or something it looks like hair but it isn’t. I couldn’t continue the conversation as it clearly was not going anywhere. Just a heads up be cautious when taking a bite double check make sure it is free from hair. If hair doesn’t bother you than no worries this heads up wont matter to you. Photo attached is of the takeout container at the bottom of the plastic takeout tub. Just so you can see how it doesn’t look like cardboard or strand of plastic. Have a great day. Reply to your response I sure hope you aren’t accusing me of planting a hair. You have cameras in your restaurant feel free to look at the footage. Please don’t throw an accusation like that especially when it is very clear that the hair was in the food and came from your resturant. It is good to know that is how you handle your business just more reason not to come...
Read moreCame in on a Monday with a party of three people as most places were closed, we found souq was one of the few restaurants that are open on Mondays.
We ordered the mixed grill plate for two , and a 12 inch mixed wrap.
The Food:
The mixed grill plate exceeded my expectations. Honestly. The beef cubes were perfectly cooked to medium rare like we asked, they were tender and decently seasoned. The chicken tawook were delightful ,juicy, and seasoned well. Both Shawarma meats beef and chicken, we’re also good, they came out warm, juicy, and well seasoned. The garlic sauce given with a grilled meat plate sometimes can make or break a platter like this, however, they got it spot on, the garlic sauce was excellent. the Only comment I can make on that plate was the kafta skewer, we found that it was overcooked, dry, firm, and honestly had the feeling that it was already cooked and made, and it was simply warmed up for us. I was not a fan of the kafta.
Fatoush was excellent, perfectly coated and seasoned dressing, pita chips were crunchy and an excellent touch. Also bonus points for not being fried like most places. We were advised by our server that they are baked. Only Comment I can make on the fattoush is that the vegetables, especially the lettuce, can be cut slightly smaller, as some bites were a little hard to get everything on in one go.
Although the hummus plate was good, as we found ourselves almost finishing it before the meat even comes. It tasted a little too lemony, Not sure if it was just our batch. Nonetheless it was good
The rice was good and warm. No complaints.
The mixed meat wrap was nice and stuffing to say the least.
The service:
Our server Nour was super welcoming and friendly. She had a calming demeanour while taking to us, many questions were asked about certain dishes, and she answered them all with professionalism, we did not feel rushed. Really felt welcomed.
All in all Souq I believe is under the radar, I believe it should have been more packed for the quality of food and service we received. I would absolutely come back...

Sept 2023 Update: I was back in Windsor and visited Souq 3x this trip. The fattoush salad with chicken and hummus are still my favorite. Also had the rice bowl with shawarma chicken. In addition to the amazing carrot cake, they now have a chocolate brownie with caramel swirl and icing to top it off. And the slushies are great - lemonade (my fave), pina colada, coffee, are so delicious. The dining room is open, airy, with lots of natural light. They've updated some of the decor and furniture, so it's fresh and lively just like a souq! All of the meals were served by Noor who is the most delightful person. She gives great recommendations on the menu and always has a big smile to brighten our day. Can't wait to return!
April 2023: When I walked into Souq, I was transported back to my time in the middle east. The atmosphere and staff are wonderful and very welcoming. I visit Windsor twice a year from my home in California. Last summer, I ate at Souq 4x in the week I was in Windsor. And I just returned for a week, and I couldn't wait to go to Souq and see Noor, one of the wonderful servers. The food is authentic and delicious. The hummus is heavenly along with the fattoush salad and tikka chicken. I also had the carrot cake and chocolate cake -- both were mouthwatering! Highly recommend you enjoy a delicious meal here or...
