My wife and I had breakfast here this morning. We'd heard good things about Suzie's so we figured today was the perfect time to go... I wish we didn't. I'm sorry Suzie's Grill -- but we need to have a talk:
We got there at 8am, and were seated promptly. The waitress was very polite, took our drink order straight away, and brought us our coffee and water. Off to a great start!
When we were ready, she took our order: I got the traditional breakfast w/ the 2 eggs (sunny side up) grilled hash browns, toast and sausage links.
Bland is the only way I can describe this meal. Boring, might be another word. Uninspired could be another.
So, here's my two cents on MY breakfast, starting w/ the hash browns. Hash browns on a flat-iron grill MUST HAVES:
Next up -- eggs. The eggs I ordered sunny side up and well.. they were. The eggs were very well made.
Toast was well.. toast. It was bread, toasted. 10/10.
The best part was the sausage links. They were plump, juicy, and delicious.. and clearly not made in-house. Heated in house, sure... but given how flavor full they were compared to the hash brows... definitely made elsewhere.
That about sums up my order.... now, lets talk about what my wife ordered.
It was a breakfast sandwich, I believe called a Monte Cristo (or something to that effect.. my brain is already trying to erase the experience from my consciousness) . Bread dunked in French toast batter and has added cheese and meat... it really sounded like a winner... but...
Please, Suzies... take that off your menu. It was foul.
My wife ate it because she's too kind to not eat what she ordered, but I took a bite and almost threw up. Honestly... it was the most disgusting thing I think I've ever eaten. You are not doing yourselves any favors w/ that on your menu. I don't know if it was just a bad day or what... but it put a damper on the entire rest of our day as all we could talk about was how gross it was.
I'm sorry if this comes across as harsh - but please know that I've only spoken the truth as I experienced it. I know you've been in business for some time - and that counts, it really does. Bad businesses don't last, so clearly, I think mine and my wife's experience must be an outlier.... but there's definite room for improvement here, I think. I've sat with my thoughts all day while I thought about how I wanted to write this review. The waitstaff was excellent though! She was prompt, polite, and attentive. That was the saving grace for our breakfast. I'm not sure if we'll be back... If we do come back, maybe we'll try the lunch...
Read moreThis was my first time visiting this location and my experience is truly a shame because the food and atmosphere both seemed lovely. As a restaurant, cleanliness should always be a standard however with covid and the nature of the quickly spreading variant this establishment did not appear to take it seriously. First of all last week restrictions allowed restaurants to go into 50 percent capacity or up to 50 people whichever is less. This place was jam packed not one table was empty and a line up. There was no social distancing. The next thing I observed with there exposed kitchen is a gentleman in the back with his mask down wiping his nose and than cutting the bag of peppers which looks like a bag from a grocery store the peppers come in which he just opened which tells me they do not wash produce or at least on this occasion. The cooks all had there mask down. The lady was working between both the back and front constantly put her mask down while prepping the food and I did not see her sanitize her hands between taking dirty plates as well as serving and prepping at least where I could see. The next thing I observed was her wiping the tables, the chairs and items on the table with the same rag she rinsed in the bar sink. This was also the same rag I saw her wipe her hands on. There was no bucket with sanitary solution or a spray of a sanitizing solution. Also they were using regular menus not the paper ones other places have switched to. Did not see these sanitized either.I did call in to mention this to them and the young girl I spoke to had nothing to say but thank you. I just wanted to mention this on here since I got no where by calling. This needs to be...
