SERIOUSLY, there must be a global shortage of raisins ???
Update April 10th 2024 I was hoping to have a good update report for the public...but....
We went to steimer bakery hoping they had improved with adding fruit to the fritters that they said were in it. Before I purchased an apple fritter I mentioned to the lady behind the counter that I was hoping they had improved. She then told me she had to send back a whole tray of them today because they were uncooked dough inside. And she said yes we have to keep telling the baker to add fruit and they don't seem to do it. I told her I think you need a new Baker and she said they didn't. (It made me wonder if the baker was related to the owner) She informed me if I bought something and it wasn't good I could put it in the freezer and next time I come into the city bring it with me. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Well I thought I'll try a dutchie cuz on the outside they look pretty good from a distance. We bought two, brought them out to the car we noticed took them out of the bag and there were no raisins on the outside and as we broke them open found just a lot of dough on the inside. What a disappointment. I went right back in with the dutchies handed her the bag and said I would like my money back. I said I would like to speak to the owner and the lady proceeded to tell me she was in a meeting. I asked if I could speak to the manager. She walked away and handed the bag to an older lady, she opened the bag looked in it and said give him his money back. The server came to me and asked me if I would like another donut instead I chuckled and said no thank you. I said I would still like to speak to the owner, could you please have her call me when she's free to which she responded "I don't think she will call you for two donuts" I told her this is about the 4th or 5th experience we've had with the same concerns. I said okay you've lost my business and I will not be coming back here again. I have been a loyal customer for over 25 years and your place is going downhill with cheaping out in quality. How expensive are raisins to put a few on the outside of a dutchie that's supposed to have raisins. They might have other very good products but they are majorly dropping the ball here and the customer service is terrible. I'm done with Steimar bread. It was always our go to place whenever we came to the city to get some delicious sweets.
Original post: Bought some apple fritters from here and was disappointed at very little if hardly any Apple in the fritter so next time we went back spoke with the manager Anita and she was amazing, she apologized and gave us replacements and more and they were much better. So many people would just never go back and never say anything and complain to others but I believe in letting businesses know just in case there's a glitch in their system and they're able to correct it. She has done something many places do not do anymore and that is excellent customer service because of this this is definitely our go-to place for baked goods even coming out from the county. Thank you Anita you made our day wonderful. I can hardly wait to get back for some more of those amazing fritters.
Update on fritters. I went there again recently again to try out the apple fritters only to discover again the smallest piece of apple in them. I mentioned to the lady there and she was rude saying, well she liked them. And that they had a problem a while ago. She did nothing to correct the situation. She wasn't the manager. I've lost interest in going there... They use to be...

The last time I was there, I had come in about 50-40 minutes before close to be greeted by an employee with glasses and long blondeish hair in a pony tail who gave me a nasty look after I said hello and then she rolled her eyes and threw her hands up in the air seemingly frustrated when she thought I wasn’t looking, I was just coming in to purchase a quick treat on my lunch. Disappointing really I almost walked out. She was by the front door. I quickly purchased my treat thinking “I didn’t mean to inconvenience anyone by coming almost an hour before close.” I wanted to leave as fast as possible and I have not went back because of this. As someone who has a touch of social anxiety, being treated the way I was, was extremely disheartening. I would call the store, leave the date and time etc, because i’ve seen on multiple disappointed reviews they have shown they would only rectify anything based on that but honestly I think it’s important for other people to know what they could be walking in to. You shouldn’t need all of that to tell your employees to do better. Seeing just how many reviews have stated similar things should be proof enough. Maybe everyone was having a bad day, but seeing how the owner & manager respond to low reviews it seems otherwise. As someone who has worked in retail their whole life it’s honestly shocking that being respectful and nice to customers isn’t a priority. Or that the employees think that’s acceptable. I have had some bad days, or been frustrated but I have NEVER made a customer feel they shouldn’t be there or that they did something wrong by shopping at my store.
The treats weren’t bad so at least you’ll know the food is okay, but the service from the employees sure makes you never want to come back.
Before getting defensive, rude or snippy to my review you guys TRULY need to reflect on yourselves and have a conversation with your staff about the way they present themselves to customers. It ends up reflecting badly on your business and that’s not fair to you, the owner. I mean no disrespect by my review, however, I will ALWAYS be honest, and you guys need to be aware some of your staff is not respecting your business....
Read moreVery disappointed in the cake i received for my daughters birthday. The writing was sloppy (my guests thought my 8 yr old did it) the leaves did not look like leaves at all.. no leaf tip was used, just blobs of dark green. The green was so over saturated with colour that it bled onto the white. The worker said it was because of the dark colour. I pointed out that all the cakes in the display also had the same dark green and yet not one bled.. she told me the cake person left for the day and she walked away.. leaving me standing there. The icing had a large crack down the center. The funny part was this was the redemption cake from the terrible job they did on her 3rd birthday cake.. I finally used the voucher they gave me.
The employee walked away and left me standing there.. there was no offer of compensation, she left me standing there. You can say what you want about colours bleeding but not one cake in your fridge, with the same colours bled..
My voucher was a lifetime voucher for the lopsided and colour mismatched cake you gave me for my daughters 3rd birthday.
The instructions were.. do the name in brown to represent tree branches (not vines) in similar size to the words on cake topper. With the green to match the shade on the green of the small sloth branch.. the final cake is how I finished it with my amateur skills.. my branches and my leaves.. if you are that proud of this cake.. please use it in your ads.. I chose the whipped filling, you chose the whipped icing and for future, if you are icing a cake and feel the colours will bleed and look like crap.. maybe inform the customer beforehand as I don't know anyone who will willingly choose a cake that will have these bleed marks...
