I don't often put in reviews but the service I received here was shambolic enough for me to share my experience.
I went there today with my girlfriend and her mother. We got there around 10:45 and the mother had to be at work for noon so we had an hour long window. Considering at the time there was maybe 3 tables of people, we expected timing wouldn't be an issue. Our drink order was taken promptly but then we waited nearly 25 minutes to even order our food.
The only staff present were seemingly the cook and a single server. Who had to deal with the soon coming morning rush. Our server who I never got the name of, seemingly had no system or structure in place when it came to service. She would tell us that she was coming to take our order in "2 minutes" and then we'd have to wait 10-15 minutes as she served every other table coffee. Again, we got there at 10:45-10:50 and didn't get to order food until around 11:20. We weren't getting served, and the people waiting at the door weren't getting seated. Besides serve people coffee I truly do not know what she was doing that was so important she neglected tables waiting to order, and customers waiting to be seated.
We eventually did get to order and my mother in law made it clear she needed the food soon as she had to leave in the next half hour. She had gotten one of the light meals so it shouldnt have taken too long. We waited another 15-20 minutes. By then my mother in law had to take her insulin, as she's diabetic and she knew she'd have to eat quick to make it to work. After that we waited another 5 minutes to where I had to talk to our waitress and let her know she needed to bring her food, and that me and my girlfriend could wait, but my mother in law would be in medical danger without it.
Eventually my mother in law got her food, and rushed out while me and my girlfriend finished our meals. My food arrived but without the pancakes, and my partners arrived without her toast. Eventually I received my pancakes but my girlfriend NEVER received the toast. We asked for the cheque, and instead of receiving the bill, we were brought a second bottle of syrup for my pancakes. And after 5 minutes were told just to pay at the front counter
When we got up and eventually did get to pay, the employee behind the counter (different from our waitress) was on her phone and walked away as we walked up. Our waitress eventually came and checked us out, as she did i noticed my girlfriends toast on the counter. Waiting to be brought to her, but never was.
What i can say thats positive is that the food was good all around (although I would've preferred a little more seasoning on the potatoes).
But the service was as previously mentioned shambolic. There was no clear system in place. The waitress either didn't care or didn't know how to work a rush on her own. She either needed someone working with her, or to be placed on a shift where she wasnt working a rush on her own because she clearly was not able to do so. My mother in law nearly got in trouble with her boss and nearly had a medical emergency because of the slow and negligent service. My girlfriend never got the full meal she paid for. And I will not be...
Read moreHorrible Mothers Day Experience. We will never go back. My nanna, mother and young cousin all went out for a Motherâs Day lunch there. Iâve never had a bad experience at a restaurant like this before, and I understand that bad things can happen but 3 of our 4 experiences werenât great. They not only had moldy food but they also never brought us one of our meals. My cousin is allergic to peppers and asked for the spinach and feta wrap made with no peppers. After waiting for 45 minutes we got our food and the eggs were made with peppers mixed in with them. We were asked if we could pick them out and we said unfortunately itâs mixed in so there would be too much waste compared to food. They took her plate and said they would remake it ( spoiler, they never brought it back). My mother got the pancake supreme (I think thatâs what it was called, pancakes with whip cream and blueberryâs), she asked for maple syrup repeatedly and we sat waiting for not only syrup but also my little cousins food cause we didnât want to eat without her. When my cousins food still hadnât come yet, I went up to the front to ask about it. They told me that they were working on it and it would be there soon (again we never got it) and then I asked about the syrup. The waitress answer was âtypically when people order the supreme they choose not to get syrup with it, since it already has additives and a lot of sugar on it with the wipe cream, I didnât think she would need itâ. I told her thatâs ridiculous after someone has asked for it and is paying for pancakes. But I was really uncomfortable by her answer and just went back to the table to tell my mom what she had said and figure out why this was happening. Finally, after we shared the pancakes with my cousin so she wouldnât have to watch us eat. I ordered the avocado toast plate, my avocado toast was amazing but as I was eating the fruit I realized the strawberries tasted off. After inspecting the fruit I noticed not only did the strawberries have mold on them but so did multiple blueberries and the plate itself had mold in the water from the fruit maybe being rinsed? I was horrified and went to the front and told them that I refused to pay for the meal (which Iâve never been in a situation to have to do that before). But I was so upset and disappointed, the only meal that was good was what my nanna had (the BLT) but she has Alzheimerâs and each year is harder to celebrate Motherâs Day with her. Iâm glad her meal was great but disappointed that what might be our last Motherâs Day meal out with her will be a disappointing memory. We tried our best to make light of it after with each other but I feel like I need to give a heads up to anyone thinking about going that cares enough to read all this.
We will...
Read moreWell, my husband and I were very excited to check out this new sunset grill here in Kingston. We arrived this morning around 10:00 it was some what busy but roughly 4-5 tables left available out of the say 16 available tables in the entire building.
When greeted at the doors the hostess/waitress was slightly unpleasant, coming off as though the two of us coming in was in some way a burden to this woman.
We were sat down at a small table near the front doors, we sat and looked through the menu for a good 5-10 minutes before coffee was even offered to us, we had placed our orders shortly after our coffee finally arrived, meanwhile three other tables were seated and they got their coffee before my husband and I even got ours, easily a ten minute wait.
The couple that was sat 5 minutes after my husband and I received their coffees before we did as well as their food!
The "Sunset Super" was what my husband ordered, and much like the rest of these reviews, the food was bland, potatoes lacked flavour and tasted like the bottom of a deep freezer, the eggs were "ok" the pancakes were the biggest miss of all, flat, lifeless, flavourless discs on a plate. My husband is ALLERGIC to chocolate and low and behold there was chocolate reminiscences on his pancakes, so he couldn't even eat them.
First visit of what my husband and I assumed to be a pleasurable experience, but again much like the rest of the people who've come and gone from this establishment, we will not be back.
The kitchen needs training on flavouring foods and how to prepare meals without cross contamination ! As well the waiting staff could benefit from some additional training on how to properly greet and serve their customers, especially the dark haired woman with glasses and holes in her ears her attitude was the icing on top of the cake.
2 stars, potentially 1 star however the atmosphere and the presentation of the restaurant itself was...
