I have visited Tuscanos several times and always enjoyed the food and service. However on this occasion, I visited with 9 of my co-workers for lunch. We had called earlier in the week to make the reservation for 11:30. We had 90 mins for lunch. 6/10 of us were at the table by 11:38. We were approached by any staff until 12 noon. There were very few guests in the place at the time we arrived. At 12:05 , the server finally took our drink and food order together. By this time there were other guests starting to fill up the surrounding tables. At 12:40 we were still waiting for our food to arrive. We inquired several times as to when our food was arriving but we're told we should have pre ordered our food at the time we made the reservation. All the tables around us were served and had eaten and finished before we even got our food. It was one of the owners serving us. Finally be 12:50 we got our food. We inhaled it quickly and had to rush back to our work seminar we were attending. Several in our party complained but no apology was made, nor was there any conciliatory offer made. We were never told when we reserved by phone to preorder. Not only that when we all got our individual bills, we were all charged an automatic gratuity. So the server, the owner made an additional $40 ish dollars from our table despite the late service and lack of apology . It was really quite appalling to be honest, totally unexpected. We were all billed separately but because we were a table of 10, gratuities are automatic. A minimal gesture would have been to waive the automatic gratuity, but that did not happen. The food was good but unfortunately not enjoyed. Not sure if I will go back or...
Read moreTried Tuscanos out tonight during Londonlicious. It was full when we arrived but we were sat in about 25 mins. We were given menus but it didn't seem like they were promoting the Londonlicious menu as we had to ask for it and if we wernt in the know we would have been ordering off the regular menu. I went with the Caesar salad, prosciutto 3 cheese arugula pizza and mocha creme brulee. The g.f. went with the same app and desert but went with the shrimp fra diavolo pasta dish. We also split an order of garlic bread. The salad was good, they do a good job on the house made Caesar dressing. The pizza was good, I would like to try there regular crust sometime to compare to the thin version. The g.f. and I switched pasta for pizza after I had a slice. The pasta was really good with a nice red sauce and a healthy portion of shrimp. The brulee was ok but didn't make that crack when I tapped it with the spoon. The service was a little off, we had three different people acting as hostess/hosts at the door. Then one waiter took our drink order and said he was going to get a note pad for our food order and disappeared to another table to take their payment and another waiter came over to take our food order. They all seemed a little bit flustered by how busy it was. All in all pretty good food and decent service. I would recommend trying out Tuscanos and will be returning to give there...
Read moreIt's a nice place for Americanized Italian food, but nothing close to real Italian food. After ordering, the waiter came back to our table and said they didn't have enough of what the table asked for, and suggested substituting the salmon of the plate for shrimp (it was meant to be the lemon capers Salmon dish originally). The pasta was overcooked - whenever I touched it with the fork, it'd break and not allow me to properly roll the fork to eat. The sauce had too much salt, and an astronomical amount of capers, which are meant to be a nice little touch, not steal the flavours of everything else in the plate. We had 4 people ordering the same dish and nobody could taste the shrimp, pasta or the sauce, only capers. I'm pretty sure my regular blood pressure is now higher than Snoop Dogg after that much salted capers. Crème brûlée isn't a real crème brûlée, but a flan with a thin layer of caramelized sugar (not even torched) on top of it. Service was ok, nice staff. Atmosphere is fine, except for my chair that had loose screws. Would not recommend for the price. Totally overpriced and definitely not worth it, anyone with basic cooking skills and common sense of not eating capers out of the jar (come on, it's a small jar and not a pickle sized one capers come in for a reason - YOU SHOULD NOT BE USING A WHOLE JAR FOR EACH PLATE YOU MAKE) can make better food for much...
