A small yet wonderful place for a great lunch with family. ššš» Food tastes good and lands you in a perfect Indian nostalgia. Especially, people looking for pure vegetarian food. It also includes Vegan meals (tagged as V), Jain meals (tagged as J). In addition to that as safety matters, has food available for people with nut allergies, and gluten free (tagged as GF) food.
We had Sambar Vada (3 medium sized vadas, don't expect it to be huge as we get back in Indiaš„“) served along with phalli chutney (peanut). Followed by Vegetarian Thali which includes 1 Puri, Two Curries (you get to choose as you wish), some plain white basmati rice (decent portion, but not as you'd get in India), 1 tsp achar (pickle), 1 papad, 1 micro bowl of dessert (again it's a choice, we had Gajar ka Halwa and Ras Malai) which was šāØ.
Showstopper! I can't miss out on mentioning the MASALA CHAI... āšš»š which is indeed the best in the town as far as my experience here in Canada is concerned. I did share the same with the staff and requested them to be consistent, because what else would a typical Indian require except a great refreshing chai after strolling around the Downtown Streets of London. It's an elixir for all kinds of tiredness and street stress!
Got a decent seating arrangement, and a great ambiance with ambient Indian Retro Instrumental Music being played in the background which again takes you down the Indian nostalgia... ššµš¶
A perfectly hospitable team of staff led by Bhargavi š©š»āš³ made sure we had the best dining experience. I loved their courteousness of checking on me and my family at regular intervals which in my opinion wouldn't be offered by any fine restaurant in this town, even at a cost. šš»šāØ
The only thing that's missing are the condiments! š Saunf ... fennel seeds ... sugary mint coated ... which any typical Indian restaurant would offer as a mouth freshener during checkout (comes along with the bill, in a decorated box or dish). I did mention the same to the staff and they've taken it as feedback.
ā ļø If you're using the restrooms š» be mindful of the staircase as the ceiling is too low, at least for a tall man like me š It does have a caution š board painted bright! So, watch out! You wouldn't wanna bang your...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe dined in on September 19 around 6:30 pm. The food was really good (in all fairness, it was our first time trying South Indian food so we didnāt have much to compare it to but the server made some really good suggestions which made the process easier). The service however was exceptional! Iām extremely confused as to why there are so many reviews talking about bad customer service because we experienced the complete opposite. The two girls working there were extremely friendly; made recommendations on food, checked in to make sure we liked the food, at one time, the table was too small for the 3 of us (my husband, son and I) and she had no problems combining another table with ours to give us more space. Yes they have limited seating but I donāt know why anyone would expect anything different given that itās located in downtown and thatās to be expected so for them to still combine a table was greatly appreciated. The girls were amazing with my 2 year old and gave him little toys to play with. Based on our experience, theyāre a great restaurant thatās very family friendly. My son had a great time and really enjoyed the toys and the stickers that were given to him as we were leaving. At no point in time did we feel like we were rushed. I would definitely come back here again due to the friendly customer service that was provided. I would consider that going above and beyond and would recommend this to anyone because keeping my child entertained was not something the servers had to do but they took it upon themselves to do it (I wish I got their name but hopefully with the date and time, the owner would know who they are). Thank you so...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI stopped in on a Sunday afternoon, very hungry and on a tight budget. Iāve been eager to try Udupi Krishna since it opened. I was very happy and satisfied. I had a mixed vegetable Uthapam. I wasnāt sure what to expect because this was my first time trying this dish. It was very good and filling. It came with three different sauces and each complemented the dish perfectly. I think this is normally a side dish, and it would possibly be best enjoyed shared with a friend as a starter. But I ate solo and really loved it. I was full and though I was eager to try something else, I decided to do so another day. I didnāt know what to expect and I just kind of took a chance with it. The place itself is cozy but well arranged and doesnāt feel crowded. They played great music and the decor was neat and fascinating without being obtrusiveātheir logo is especially cool. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The person who helped me explained what the dish I ordered was and what itās ingredients were (I didnāt even have to ask, she just let me know since I indicated that I was gluten free). London should be very proud to have this nice new addition to its revamped downtown Dundas strip. It makes for a great stop when youāre out and about and hungry after browsing the shops. Overall, I am very glad I chose to eat here and I will be coming back with friends. A big Thank You to the staff and cooks at...
