My parents-in-law have been eating at this restaurant over 20 years. They are Caucasian, but love Vietnamese foods. They know the owner very well since they came here very often.
I came from Little Saigon, southern California and I cook very good Vietnamese foods (I am Vietnamese), so I am quite picky when it comes to Vietnamese foods. My parents-in-law took me here last night. I was surprised that the restaurant is not decently decorated. It is clean, but not an upscale restaurant by any measure. It is truly a holes in the wall restaurant and it the rougher part of London. However, it was more surprised to me was the foods were pretty good. We ordered:
Vietnamese spring rolls (#3) Pork shredded rolls (#4 I wanted #5, but we didn't write the correct number) Crispy chow mein with calamari, shrimp, beef, broccoli, onion, and carrot (#39a - Delicious!!!) House special rice with BBQ pork, shrimp, shredded pork, fired eggs broccoli and carrot - (#56 - pretty good) Special stir fried Beef (bo luc lac) with veggies (#79 - pretty good) Mango smoothie (#106 - pretty good) Sour sop smoothie (#104 - excellent!!!) Shrimp pasted on sugar cane wrap (#1 - They ran out of Chao Tom) Jack fruit smoothie (#105 - They ran out of jackfruit)
I enjoyed everything we ordered, specially #3, #39a, and #104. If you don't mind the holes in the wall, then order some tasty foods at this Vietnam restaurant. I will take my children there for the crispy chow mein next time we...
Read moreThe parking for this restaurant is located behind the restaurant off of Dorinda Street. They have a good amount of spaces but it can be a tight for larger vehicles. There is also street parking available. If you park in the parking lot there is a rear entrance door that you can use to avoid having to walk all the way around...didnt realize until we had walked around and got into the restaurant.
As far as the food goes it was fantastic. Great big portion sizes for good value. My meal was enough for me to be full and take almost half of it home for a second meal. We finished with desert and I was told the macarons they have there were the best cookie my friend ever tried. I had the Creme Caramel and it was not good. Tasted weird and almost old...so avoid that one.
The staff was very friendly and attentive. It helps to know that when you are done you will pay at the register so dont wait for a bill or you'll wait a long time.
The restaurant is bigger than it would seem from the outside and can accomdate a good number of people. We didn't have a reservation and that didn't matter at all. Were able to sit down right away and order food. If you have a larger group I would call ahead to make sure they can sit you when you want to eat but for 4 or less you should be good to go.
Overall great experience at a new restaurant will keep this on my...
Read moreI first went to Vietnam restaurant in 2009, and I can honestly it's one of my favorite restaurants. When I first went there I was a little weary as it did not stand out from the street and is not in the greatest area, the decor was fuscia pink and turquoise with old karaoke machines and lighting and the table and chairs were something from 1980. Lol. It was a huge menu, I mean huge, the good news was that they had small photo albums with the corresponding menu items and numbers (that are most popular),so it made the selection process rather fun and easy for a first timer. The staff (it is a family run business ) are so amazing, friendly, funny, courteous, helpful, (I can't say enough good things). Fast forward to 2024, the staff is still the same, the food is still amazing. Even take out is available to anywhere in London (even to Lambeth, although I did have to pay an $18 delivery fee, but I didn't mind. The interior was changed years ago, (a fresh coat of paint), the food and staff are over and above excellent. I could live of of their spring rolls alone. Please check out this restaurant! You will see for yourselves and I guarantee you will keep going...
