Who would have thought you can find authentic Filipino food in Orangeville?! Well Auntie Joy did not disappoint!! My in-laws who live in Orangeville told me about this place. They have been here to pick up Auntie Joy’s other offerings that are not Filipino dishes and were very pleased but had not tried her Filipino dishes. Since I happened to be in the neighborhood (we are from Collingwood), I decided to give it a try. What a treat!!! We ordered the lumpia Shanghai, pancit bihon (no shrimps...I’m allergic) and crispy pata with rice and stir fried veg. The lumpia were crispy very thin flavorful spring rolls. I have never seen lumpia Shanghai done so thin and delicate and packed with so much flavor. You can tell they were rolled meticulously by hand. The pancit bihon was one of the best I’ve ever had (next to my mom’s or even my own...you see...I’m a chef). The crispy pata had so much crackling, it so addictive. The rice and the stir fried veg were packed with so much flavor, that could have been a dish on it’s own. The veg was so fresh and stir fried to perfection (the veg still had some crunch). The rice had a great hint of toasted garlic! Can’t wait to be back in Orangeville to go through the rest of the menu!!!! Salamat Auntie Joy!!...
Read moreMy family and I decided to try out a new restaurant and came to Aunty Joy’s Springrolls. Upon entry we asked if we can add another seat to our table since we are a family of 5 and there were only 4 seats, the person working there told us that we should have called before coming in because she’s the only one there. It does not say anywhere online to call prior to dining in and I have never heard of that unless the place is busy. There was no one in the restaurant except for my family. Then she said she doesn’t know how long the food will take and told us to bear with her as it could take really long and said if we are in a rush we should leave. We didn’t mind to wait but definitely did not want to wait for hours. Unfortunately we did not get to try the food but the entire experience was not worth staying there. Make sure you call before dining in to inform the owners that...
Read moreTucked away in a quiet little plaza, at First St & 5th Ave, you will find one of Orangeville's best kept secret. Aunty Joy's place is wonderfully busy and rightly so. They have a great menu, with an assortment of dishes to choose from. We went for a classic tofu pad thai, shrimp roll in rice wrap, and classic spring rolls. What can I say that those few in Orangeville haven't already said. Well, for those of you who dont already know the pad thai was out of this world, fresh, spicy, and delicious. The quantity more than generous one order can feed 3 ppl. The shrimp rolls were also fresh and tasty, with a sweet & salty component coming from the fresh mango once dipped in the peanut sauce.I did not hesitate to return the following day to bring some home and get my family's reaction. I will definitely be coming back. Thank you again,...
