Stopped in for lunch today, and I can honestly say I have never seen a firehouse sub franchise that is so poorly cleaned. There wasnāt one surface in the entire storefront that had been cleaned. All of the tables were dirty. I had to push dirt onto the floor to sit down, the walls were caked in dust, the fire tools on the wall had a thick layer of dust. The washrooms were filthy, the area where you get a lid and throw your garbage away. Looks like it hadnāt been cleaned in about three days and the floors were disgusting. Do they not have enough employees there that one person can be in charge of upkeep in the front of their restaurant? Food is not always the most important thing. People need to feel comfortable that theyāre eating in a clean environment, and this firehouse sub definitely gets a failing grade.
Iām adding to my original review, 10 months later. There is still a big issue with this location and keeping their restaurant clean! Seriously itās not difficult. Nobody pays any attention to the dining area or washrooms, I have been multiple times since this first review and nothing has changed for the better! Itās time to let head office know. I think itās possibly the young staff at all times. The focus is on making and selling food. Not basic cleaning skills. They need to hire a cleaner if the staff donāt do it, because itās becoming gross how dirty the dining room is. On top of that, the drink area always has spilled pop on the counter and no napkins. The only good thing is the food. Cleanliness is an āFā grade as of 10...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis review is based on my first visit. Overall I have a mixed response to this restaurant. I had the large brisket and cheese sandwich, which was fairly good. It was a bit expensive compared to a place like Subway but I did go in very hungry and was full when done.
I wasn't happy with the entire staff yelling "Welcome to Firehouse" every time someone came in, as it got extremely annoying while waiting in line, waiting for my food and during the time I ate. There was no customization options to my sandwich, so either the person taking my order just didn't ask or it is something you must be sure to request. I also noticed a few cold spots in my meat, so their cooking/reheating method isn't very good.
Overall though it was a good enough experience that I will be willing to try them again. The food was good enough, the service was friendly and the restaurant appeared to be clean. I may just decide to only go there though during slower hours or get take out.
One thing though that I really liked was the large piece of artwork on the wall. It is definitely unique and eye-catching while paying respect to not only the Raptors but Orangeville's...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe were happy to see a Firehouse sub at the Riddell location as a quick spot to grab a meal driving to/from Toronto. This is by far the worst Firehouse sub restaurant that we have been to. It wasnāt clean. The guy taking orders was most unfriendly and it seemed like I was wasting his time. Most tables were dirty, the washroom wasnāt very clean and the general restaurant needs a good cleaning. When our food was brought out, it was dropped on the table.
Firehouse subs use basket/trays with a wax paper on top to place the food on. My sandwich was more than half off the wax paper and sitting directly on the tray, bottom of the sandwich on the wax paper and the top on the tray. Seems too easy to put a sandwich together, but not here. I hope the tray was cleanā¦. We were in a hurry to get to our destination, ate up quickly and left. Probably wonāt be back. We donāt expect much really when eating out especially at a fast food place but there is lots of opportunity for...
