Forage Restaurant — Restaurant in Orangeville

NOT A KID FRIENDLY RESTAURANT!! I don't know why this restaurant has highchairs if they expect children to be completely silent. We were just finishing up dessert when our waitress, the older women with the short brown hair rudely told us that there were other people in the restaurant and that our child needed to be quiet. Our reservation was for 6pm and it took almost 3 hours to finally leave, the service was insanely slow. For being seated in a restaurant for 3 hours our son was insanely good, he isnt even two yet. Id love to know what two year old can be capable of this. It bothers me that it was literally closing time and this woman chose to say this to us, totally put a sour end to our night. My salad had way too much dressing & calamari was rubbery and overcooked. I was a fan of the sweet potato fries and would definitely have returned just for those but after the way we were treated we wont be back again and will be telling everyone we know to stay far away. We have been dining out with our son for two years and have NEVER been treated like this, shame on you.

Im extremely shocked at the reply as it is completely untrue. Just because this restaurant is in the process of being sold does not mean you should be rude to your customers, clearly the owners dont care anymore. My son had a few very short outbursts and they were handled right away. As any parent should know, toddlers are not perfect but he was not disturbing guests whatsoever and was kept busy with items we brought to distract him. Should he have had an actual outburst i most definitely would have brought him outside but it simply didnt happen! Going into a restaurant with a child is always nerve wracking and I have always had positive experiences in the other places I have dined. From the moment we walked into Forage though I could tell they weren't pleased to see a child with us. Hopefully you will actually improve upon your service times as 3 hours is ridiculous! I had globs full of dressing in my salad that had twice the amount of dressing needed, couldnt eat the last of it as it was just too much dressing. I went to Forage because I had a craving for a Greek salad. The person who greeted me was kind of rude. The server was friendly and nice though. I ordered a Greek salad with dressing on the side. It arrived with the dressing on the salad. I waited so I could tell the sever but eventually took a couple of bites because I was hungry and I couldn’t see the server. When the server did come back she asked how it was. I mentioned that the dressing wasn’t on the side. She offered to take it back so I agreed because there was too much dressing for my liking. When it came back it was a noticeably smaller salad. And the salad is already small as a meal (note that the salad doesn’t come with bread or anything else). It was tasty (but there are no chickpeas as per the menu so there’s no protein unless you order protein as an extra). The salad cost $16.95 not including tip. I left $20. Won’t be back.

RE OWNER RESPONSE: I just checked the menus and while it’s true there are two different Greek salads, the salad I got did not fit either menu description:

If it was the vegan one (which includes lettuce—half of my dish was covered in lettuce), there were no chickpeas.

If it was the salad from the regular menu, it shouldn’t have contained any lettuce.

Either way, I didn’t receive a properly made salad and the salad size was ridiculously small, especially for the price. (Check the photo.) I also have never heard of a restaurant giving a smaller meal when they offer to replace a meal due to their mistake.

My new Favorite Restaurant!!! I had the Salmon. In one Word... Delicious! Cooked Perfect. I couldn’t stop inhaling it. And I usually only eat one meal per day. So happy I chose that one meal to be here!!! I also had the Greek Salad. Which was full of a variety of Veggies. Also very good. I was too full to finish. Which means I have Yummy leftovers for tonight. Prices are Competitive. But, I’ve no problem paying for Fresh and tasty food. In the past Month, I’ve been to 3 well known Greek Restaurants. From Toronto, to Brampton to Orangeville. All were extremely disappointing!!!!! Especially the Greek salads. I’d almost given up my quest to find a delicious Salad again. Including, salmon. Which is my favorite Fish. When cooked properly!!! I was so Delighted when my Husband brought me Take out from Forage. And it was absolutely Tasty and Delicious!!! If you love Salmon as I do, do yourself a favor, order it from here. I prefer it without the Capers. Which is no problem. Thank you Forage, for restoring my faith in Yummy Food again!!!
