This location has hands down the rudest, most miserly staff I’ve ever come across. I stopped by yesterday morning to grab bubble tea for a friend and myself, and when I asked for two waters to go with our drinks, I was told I could only have one? Seriously? Why is it so hard to offer a PAYING customer a simple thing like water? It’s mind-boggling that your staff would deny this basic courtesy. Because of this, we will NEVER be coming back to Coco again. The owner, Chen, should seriously consider training his staff to be more customer-friendly and less petty.
Thankfully, there are plenty of other bubble tea spots around Durham College that actually know how to treat customers with respect and don’t make a fuss over something as simple as giving water. So, I’m left wondering...can someone please clarify if this “no water” nonsense is a company-wide policy, or just some petty rule Chen has decided to enforce?
To make matters even worse, on a previous visit, I was served by a different worker who was alone behind the counter and had the worst attitude. She was visibly frustrated and didn’t even try to hide it...she definitely didn’t want to be there. After a quick search in the reviews here, I found someone else had posted about her months ago, complaining about the same terrible service. So, it’s clear this isn’t just a one-off. When we were finally served, the staff member's attitude was extremely disrespectful. I asked if they were serving hazelnut milk tea, but the loud music made it impossible for us to hear each other. Instead of lowering the volume to facilitate better communication, the server rolled her eyes and raised her voice at us, displaying a remarkably poor attitude. I asked her why she was acting rude to us but she did not respond. This unprofessional behavior was not an isolated incident, as my friends experienced similar treatment during a previous visit.
