I was invited for lunch by a fellow foodie based in Whitby. We ended up at The Forum, a real old-school diner in Oshawa. It's a stand-alone building that looks trapped in time, with a brick facade, a crumbling metal awning over the entrance, a narrow interior with wood paneling and brickwork, and seating at booths only. This place is worn BUT has a charm about it! We ordered a Club House sandwich, and Hot Hamburger, both with fries and only $8.00 and $9.95, respectively. We also shared a Grilled Cheese sandwich with Bacon, only $7.50. The club sandwich was hefty, with lots of chicken and bacon. The hot hambuger, with two patties and lots of gravy was very filling. The fries, included with both dishes, were excellent - light and crispy. The grilled cheese sandwich had a generous amount of thick bacon and was pretty good. We both ended up taking home some food. With decent food and ultra low prices, The Forum is worth investigating. You can either embrace the nostalgic feel of the place or order takeout.

We tried The Forum because we read a review recommending the food. When we walked in, the woman sitting in a booth at the front looked us up and down, and said, "What do you want?" At that point, I wanted to leave, but my wife still wanted to try it out. The server was good and brought us our coffee, water and cutlery quickly. Unfortunately, the water glasses and cutlery were dirty. I had to chip off some caked-on food from my water glass, and my wife decided to order a burger so that she wouldn't have to use the cutlery. The burgers were greasy and bland. The fries were okay. The men's washroom was dirty and cluttered. There was a ladder, de-icing salt and a car door in there. There was also an old car door in the hallway from the washrooms to the kitchen. We definitely won't be going back to The Forum.

This place is everything I have always wanted from a breakfast spot. It looks terrible from the outside and inside is just as bad... It's perfect!!! The food is unbelievable, the potatoes are perfect, the peameal is served in abundance, and the sausage is everything you wanted it to be. The toast is buttered from edge to edge and the coffee is delicious. The lady /owner operator doesn't communicate very well but somehow she understands exactly what you want. If you sleep on this place you're doing yourself a huge disservice. The forum is my new favorite breakfast in the Golden horseshoe area ❤️

You need to go here and get the peameal and eggs. I've been coming here for over 30 years. This was a regular spot for me and my dad, and now I take my kids here. They are growing boys and they need the portions here or they might wither away. Mama and Greg (RIP) will fix you a breakfast that can't be beat. We would get so much food, they had to layer it all on platters. The price was always a steal. The portions are a little smaller now and Mama getting a little slower but she still boogies. She is a real character. I miss listening to her and Greg argue as she was serving customers. Breakfast AND a show. Greg's gone now and she takes care of everyone herself with help from her son. The food is still as amazing as it always was. I truly love this place but it's probably not where you'd bring a first date... lol... The atmosphere is reminiscent of something between rustic and post-apocalyptic. I'm pretty sure they decorated the place with prizes from the CNE in the 70s.... you'll see what I mean. Still... the place may be a little worn but the kitchen is clean and the grub is fantastic. In 30 years, I think I've only ordered off the menu once or twice. I always get the peameal and eggs with arguably the best homefries in town. Having said that. The burgers and fries were pretty good too, when I tried them. Just be sure to bring enough cash...

this was such a disappointment of a breakfast. when you wake threw the door it's so outdated and not looked after there are giant rips in the booths on every single one also the place just looked dirty and not only that but my Dad had to ask for a new fork literally three times and literally each time the fork still had dirty caked on left over food witch is disgusting. the male server he seems annoyed with us for asking for a new fork in the first place. the food is awful the potatos have no seasoning not even salt and pepper and the meat was just pathetic I mean I understand the prices are so low but charge me a bit more and actually give me a peace of meat worth eating not a tiny sliver of it. overall I was just so disappointed with the service here they don't care about the look of the restaurant what so ever so I can only imagine how gross the kitchen is. from what I could see It looked awful. if you actually want a good breakfast go to the white apron they are to die for and completely blow this place out of the water. I feel awful making such a bad review but I must be honest and tell it how it is. if this restaurant wants to draw in more people all they have to do is produce better food and clean up the place and update it. this place used to be amazing but it's just not anymore. don't recommend this place at all if I could give 0 out...
