Smitty's Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Osoyoos

Food was the worst I've ever had in years! We ordered 3 items from the menu and nothing was good. We had the breaded veal cutlet, the chicken parmesan and the roast beef dinner.

Pastas were overcooked, but then the worst was the fresh and the vegetables of the day were a disaster. The fresh vegetables were some cut carrots, and cut celery without any seasoning. But then when we taste the vegetables of the day, that were supposed to be cooked (what we were told before ordering by the waitress). What we got served were half cooked carrots. I wished that the waitress would have told us what it was because she didn't even know what it was. My dish came also with a leaf of lettuce and cucumber but there was no dressing on it, not sure how I was suppose to eat it. This is unbelievable that they cannot serve proper cooked carrots or pasta!

When I did my order of the veal cutlet, the waitress suggested me to take the mashed potatoes with gravy. I went for it thinking that it is the most popular item from the side menu and I was also hoping that it would be homemade. It did not look homemade and it tasted ok and by the amount of gravy topped on it, I had the feeling that the reason why it comes with gravy was because of the taste of it. The deep fried veal tasted ok but it was very thin and I did not like the fact that gravy was also on top of it. I only asked for gravy on top of the mashed potatoes.

My friend who had the roast beef dinner said that it tasted the same as a tv dinner! Because the quality of the meat was mediocre but also because of the mashed potatoes and the half cooked carrots.

I was hoping the waitress to come see how our lunch was going but she only came at our end of it. Which was not understandable because the restaurant was not busy at all around 4pm.

When she came, I complained about the veggies and she offered me a salad to replace my raw veggies, but I declined because I was done with my lunch. She also explained us the reason why food was so bad. She said that at lunch time, they have less staff and that the chefs are not that great. If we would have come for dinner, it would have been totally different. I am really wondering how different it would be and if they cannot have proper chefs for lunch, the restaurant should be closed and only...

I’d give 0 stars if that was an option. Terrible service, terrible kitchen staff, terrible management. Went here during a weekend getaway to Osoyoos and deeply regret it. The food is revolting, cold, and old to begin with, however this isn’t even close to the worst about this restaurant. The kitchen staff mixed up the ingredients between 2 of the burgers at our table. When I sent it back to be fixed, they came out with a completely different order from what I had. I sent it back a third time only to wait 45 minutes before receiving the proper order. Management was completely unapologetic when I notified them, blamed it on only having one waitress in the area (which is NOT the customer’s problem, and it wasn’t the waitress who kept messing up, it was the kitchen staff). I called the owner and recieved a call back a few days later, she was defensive but offered me a gift card to use in the city where I’m from which I refused, but she insisted. It would have made up for the terrible meal, service, and 2 hours of wasted time, however it’s been more than a year and I’ve never recieved it. AVOID...

Delicious breakfasts, generous quantities, wonderful coffee, greeted by the female owner on an incredibly busy Saturday morning and she kept things moving efficiently to minimize wait times. Very friendly staff. We had prime rib on our first visit and this Smitty's Restaurant prepares excellent prime rib! Who would have guessed! There was a choice of 3 sizes. I recommend asking for the jus (gravy) on the side in case it's flavour interferes with your delicious prime rib...just a personal preference, no complaints about the gravy. Our only complaint or criticism...the flies spoiled it on the first visit. Our second visit ..far fewer of them. Very fast paced place, hard working younger and older staff, dedicated to making the customers comfortable and happy, wait time for food was a bit longer on that crazy busy Saturday morning but we were not bothered...great coffee to keep us company and the server put the coffee carafe on our table immediately upon sitting down.
