I believe the woman and her husband that we dealt with were wonderful, very responsive, they went way beyond what a regular employee would do to make us comfortable. They answer the phone immediately at any time. The place was very clean. This is a budget type motel and it was not cheap because we got the unit with two beds. I think they were double beds. They were in two different rooms but I could still hear noises from the front room because there is an opening over the door between the two rooms to allow air circulation from the a/c in the bedroom. The rooms are small and decor is plain but pleasant. This place has a nice kitchen which could be really handy if you wanted one. The dining table is on wheels which surprised me. It had 4 hard back chairs and no really comfortable chairs or sofa but that was not a problem for us. They had all the amenities like shampoo, facial tissues, nice towels including towels at the pool. The outdoor pool was wonderful, clean, nice variety of depths more than the usual shallow hotel pools and warm enough, much better temperature than I have found in large chain hotels. Lots of nice lounge chairs. We never heard the neighbors. There were two nice televisions, one in each of the two rooms. It would be nice if we could lock the windows opened just partway for security reasons because the outside air was lovely at night and this is on the ground floor in a motel layout where we could park right in front of our unit. Very handy. The a/c went off and on and made noise. But we did not hear road noise. Our unit was back off the road. One bed had a night stand which was nice, the other bed did not. Overall this was an impressive place and would be great...
Read moreThis was a case of needing an overnight at the last moment, so I'm grateful they had the room. ||Pluses: The room was very clean and tidy. The air conditioner was old but did the job very adequately, and the small breakfast table was on casters. The pool was clean and central, with an attractive barbequing area beside it. Westridge Motor Inn would seem to cater well to families. It is on the western edge of town and has a dedicated turn lane going west, so very easy to access. ||However, the amenities are pretty spotty. In the queen room (very small) there was a small two-cup coffee maker with envelopes of coffee, sugar, etc. but NO MUGS OR SPOONS! There was an extremely strong smell of sweet air freshener that either dissipated or which I became nose-blind to, but required that windows and doors be left open to get fresh air in. People with scent sensitivities should avoid this place. The screen on the window was damaged and not sitting properly. One tiny funny detail was that the paper envelope for the keycard was old, crumpled and a bit frayed, unlike every other place I've stayed that provides a pristine card envelope. Not a big issue but indicative, I think, of perhaps a little too much frugality.||Also, for those who like to walk, either into town or to the mall just across the highway, this would be challenging as there are no sidewalks until the north-south highway is...
Read moreAfter deciding to stay another day in Osoyoos, we stumbled upon the Westridge Motor Inn. A quaint, charming little hotel located just the right distance from the downtown area. Perfect for the budgeting traveler...
If all you care about is the hotel experience, want a nice place to stay, and to do it for cheap, then this a great option!
HOWEVER...
If you value yourself in any way and/or have a shred of dignity, then I advise you to steer clear.
The morning of our departure, shortly after leaving our room spotless for the cleaning staff, my roommate went to check us out at the front desk. He was verbally harassed and berated by the owner for supposedly disrespecting him by smoking outside of the room. Not only did we not smoke anywhere near the room, but it is NEVER the place of an adult business owner to cuss out and threaten a few 21 year olds, especially paying customers with the capacity to leave a review...
FOR THE RECORD...
The woman who appears to share the role of running the hotel was lovely. She greeted us with a smile at every encounter, was polite, and thoughtful.
All in all... Would I recommend the Whiteridge Motor Inn to anyone? Absolutely! It was just what my friends and I were looking for In a budget friendly hotel and our stay was quite comfortable. But the line will always be drawn at respect, which goes both...
