I had really mixed feelings on this place. For starters, I can't tell if I like the decor or find it tacky. Probably a combination of both, as some has a sort of fun vibe and some of it is a little too that one aunt you have on Facebook that's always sharing wine memes-y. That being said, I like that they have board games and an arcade game. The service was pretty meh. Initially the bartender was at least enthusiastic, though stretched thin as it was just him and a girl that seemed to be making the food and tidying up, but once the person I was with stated he wasn't going to order anything, it's like the bartender went out of his way to ignore us. And it's not like we were out of the way, we were at the bar, across from where the bartender was most of the night, so just making eye contact with us would have been enough, but it's like he was trying not to look at us. Moreover, he had some obvious friends show up while we were there and he doted on them so heavily that it just added insult to being actively ignored. He still seemed to be working hard though, and I give him credit for that and he/the girl making food were nice enough to make a substitution for us, which is always appreciated. Finally, food and drink: really good! I enjoyed what I tried a lot and though some of the drink prices are rather high, they are comparable to the price of drinks at similar bars in the city. One little complaint though, the menu on the website and the menu in the bar were different and that's a bit of a pet peeve of mine.
Overall, I had a good time and enjoyed what I ate and the overall vibe of the place, but I can get equally good food and drinks elsewhere with...

My girlfriend made a reservation over the phone two days in advance and upon arriving we were told that they had forgotten about it. The staff member provided some wonderful information and told us that we should have made a reservation online and not over the phone. The advice was appreciated, but it was a little late. 10fourteen, I would suggest not taking reservations over the phone if this is the kind of information you are giving to your customers. Just a thought because shifting blame to them is not acceptable.
In an attempt to rectify the situation, we were offered the casting couch at the back of the restaurant. Not an optimal place to try and eat a dinner with four people, so we passed on the offer. I think an apology and a "let us make your next experience better next time" would have been in better taste.
Would really like to give this place a better rating because the food, drinks and atmosphere are great. The Black tea infused gin drink is delicious and obviously everyone loves the bacon cup.
Service, service, service......
Read moreI don't eat in Hintonburg often so I randomly picked 10fourteen for a few of us to grab drinks and apps.
The bar was quiet when we arrived, and we were given menus after a brief wait. Long story short, it appeared the hostess/waiter/bartender/cook was the sole employee who also remarked it was her first shift. Forty five minutes to get our first drink, which I had to reorder as they were out of mezcal, and two hours to receive all our menu items.
She was apologetic and offered our wings on the house, and I don't necessarily blame her but the establishment itself. How can one person be relied upon to cook all the food and serve all the drinks themselves? Even though more employees showed up as the place filled up, none were attentive to anything but their own table/bar areas given she was training; they should have checked on her clients as well.
Perhaps servers called in sick or were late, the restaurant should still be held accountable and although I wanted to give this place another attempt to see if it was an off-day, honestly the food and drinks were mediocre given a 140.00 bill for three people and...
