TacoLot — Restaurant in Ottawa

Was really excited to try this place out for a date night but it was by far the worst experience I've had in a resturant. Cook kept swearing and made it super clear he didn't want to to be making our food, kept saying they were closing in 20 min (when online it said they didn't close for another 40 min) were out of tons of things like nachos, water, and coke. We felt obligated to tip because he was still making the food when we paid and didn't want to make him more upset when he was handling our food (in case he might do something to it). We had initially planed to eat there and enjoy a night out but this expirence entirely killed the vibe and we just went home to eat them. The veggies tacos were basically all letuce with very few beans and were terrible. The beef tacos were okay but definitely not worth $44 for the 5 tacos. They weren't filling at all either it was a very small portion of food for the cost and quality. I work in the resturant industry and am generally very understanding when things go wrong but I was appalled by the way the cook was treating us and other customers who came after us and were turned away. Really disappointing experience and we will definitely not...

We had such high hopes for this place - every time I drove by it was always hopping and looked so funky and inviting - but boy what a weird letdown. The young couple running the place (not sure if it's always the same people) were SO lovely and sweet and really seemed to be on their game ... that's why we couldn't for the life of us understand how the food here could be so ..... I don't know; I almost thought it was a joke (hidden camera perhaps?), and I had a tough time finishing up what we'd ordered, even though I'd been craving tacos for weeks. Long boring story short: so bland, so lacking, so sad. Zero taste or creativity; a few sad scrapings of iceberg lettuce on top on what I think was meat, and that was it, No sauce, no lime, no slaw, no cilantro, no cheese, no nothing else. Baffling, first because they are a business, and secondly because it's so easy to make tacos fabulous. So we left there feeling very bummed...and quite pissed that we'd dished out $30 for such a supremely...
