Anabia Cupcakery Café — Restaurant in Ottawa

I placed an order for half a dozen custom cupcakes for a friend's birthday, and was not satisfied with the way it turned out.

I sent an email with some photos of what I would ideally like the cupcakes to look like, and included some notes (I.e., colour, décor, flavour, etc.). Didn't hear from them after 2-3 days so I called to follow-up. Turned out my email landed in their junk folder (which is fine because this happens sometimes). I briefly went over the details again over the phone and the person I was speaking to said they should be able to make this order, and if I don't hear back from them then that means they can make it. I didn't hear back so I assumed they were able to make it.

When I picked them up, aside from the flavour of cupcake and colour of icing, nothing else looked like what I had asked for. Very disappointing. The cashier took my name down and said someone would follow-up with me. It's been more than a week now and haven't heard from them.

Thankfully, my friend said the cupcakes were still really good, so at least there's that.

My advice to anyone else considering custom orders from Anabia is to double check with them to ensure they have all your...

Just rating the coffee, that's all I'm interested in :-))

Espresso setup is dialed very good and together with Union beans they use it's very forgiving for fluctuations in Barista's focus.

Meaning even if it's busy and/or person making your espresso/latte is not that focused, you still get good to very good coffee.

When barista takes care, you'll get excellent one, on par (almost) with Equator roasters (for example).

To give a bit background context about my expectations for coffee, at home I'm using restored Italian lever espresso machine manufactured in 1969/70.

Simplified version: if you're in for really good tasting coffee / latte (espresso type) this is the only place in Barrhaven to get it. Or you need to drive to Westboro to visit Equator roasters...

Place is pleasent to spend time in unless there is some organized gathering of type when tables are reserved and sitting...

I ordered 2 dozen cupcakes of an assortment of flavours for a bridal shower this past weekend. This was my first time visiting Anabia, and I will certainly be back again. Right from when I called to when I picked up the cupcakes I received great service that was friendly and efficient, something I don’t see around Ottawa that often. There were so many flavours to choose from, but David was able to recommend some favourites and some classics that would suit everyone. The cupcakes were ready on time when I needed to pick them up and they were so fresh that some of the chocolate toppings still had to harden! The cupcakes were a big hit with all of the guests and tasted amazing. I also grabbed a few raspberry scones, and they were also really good. I’m looking forward to going back again. It’s so nice to have a place like this in Barrhaven, I highly recommend...
