I got $300 Walmart gift card when I bought few phones from this Walmart on September 3rd. After 5 days I tried to sell the card online I got offers but later I decided to not sell it and gave it to my family so they can use it for groceries. When my family went to use the card it turned out to be empty no money in it. Last Sunday I go back to this Walmart to see why there is no money in the card. Two ladies who work there helped me to see what's is the problem. After they checked the history of the card, 2 transactions that took the money on September 4 which is one day after I got the gift card. The transactions happend at Walmart on BC. Not even ottawa or ontario.
They promised me to call me back and investigate the issue.
Today is September 11th. I went to Walmart seeking an answer to what happened. I didnt find the two employees who helped me at first but an employee who's name is Devon works at the cellphone department where I got the gift card from came and talked to me. He told me that because I tried to sell the card online and it got stolen it is not our responsibility. He even said that he has history that I tried to sell the card online and it got stolen and then he leaves.
The way he talked to me was very rude and unprofessional.
Note: the sticker that covered the back numbers are still uncovered and untouched until the two Walmart employees who helped me at first they uncovered the numbers in the back.
The question is how can someone steal the money from the card while the numbers on the back unrevealed and the card was in my wallet for days.
The money was taken from the card one day after I got the card and I tried to sell the card after 4 days.
The Employee Devon who insisted that the money was stolen because I tried to sell the card online, didnt he think how the money is stolen when the back numbers unaltered ? And didnt he question how the money stolen right after one day?
Walmart has a security issue with their gift cards and they dont want to acknowledge this issue. Otherwise it just dosnt make any sense that the money is stolen from the card just because I tried to sell the card online and while the back...

I would give this a Negative rating if I could!
I've lived in Barrhaven for about 11 years and this Walmart is my go to from clothes to household supplies and the majority of my food purchases, especially during inflation the past few years.
Over the past 5-6 years or so, I've seen a decline in Customer service. Not only is it difficult to find someone to assist you, but the lack of friendly, kind and professionalism is lacking beyond words.
Ever since they introduced the full grocery "superstore" to this location, it's gone downhill. The sore is simply not big enough! All other departments from clothing, toys, housewares, electronics, hardware have slowly shrunken over time to make room for the grocery isles.
With all the above mentioned, the worst of them all is how dirty this place has become. It is absolutely disgusting to say the least. The floors look like they haven't been cleaned in months, from built up of dirt, dust, garbage and other things I probably don't even want to think about. Ever since they installed the glass doors in the cold fridge sections, the glass is full and I mean full of nasty grimy greasy hand marks from customers opening and closing them. Again, probably never cleaned.
I often use the self check outs (yes I know, some disagree with this, but I'd rather use them then deal with the lack of customer service at the cash) I digress. The scanning area is often slimy/wet from something spilled on it. Just the other day there was liquid dripping off the machine. The bag packing areas are so dirty with god knows what. So I use my shopping car to packy bags.
I wish I would have taken some photos or video to post. Needles to say, I am officially done shopping at this...
Read moreThis Walmart has seriously gone downhill. Customer service, professionalism and product knowledge is severely lacking. Staff either don't want to help you, or don't know enough about their products or policies to help customers.
When I asked a staff member a couple of weeks ago to check whether a product was available in the store, I was informed the product was discontinued without confirming it's availability on the system.
Another time during checkout a staff member informed me that a multi product discount was not applied because I needed to pick two bottles of the same drink. I got the impression that she thought I was looking for a quick discount, whereas fact of the matter was that the multi product discount was offered on the products of the same brand, and I had picked a soft drink from two different brands.
To cut a long story short, staff is NOT 'Happy to help!' . This is evident in the way they speak with you and dismiss your questions with answers that suggest they either don't know what they are talking about or just want you to go away because they couldn't care less.
This is the tip of the iceberg. The lack of cleanliness, misplaced tags, and unstocked aisles is another story. It indicates that management at the store is not doing it's job of managing the store.
I am definitely going to start shopping elsewhere. The level of frustration trying to communicate with staff to get answers to simple questions, the cleanliness level in the store and overall state is not worth my time and energy. I hope someone at Walmart that can address these matters reads this review and does something about them. I am a Barhaven resident and this store has been my go to for many years and it's sad to see it...
