I placed an online order an hour and a half prior to the scheduled pick up time. It was confirmed and they took my payment. We arrived 10-15 mins after the scheduled time to allow for the restaurant the time to make the order for only 2 banh mi. My cauasian bf went in to pick up the order under my name, he was told they did not have my order and to check the location. I placed the order for the Clyde location and was at the exact Clyde locarion for pick up. He came to get me and I went in and asked and they immediately found my order but tried to indiate they only just got my order, which was not the case. Perhaps, they only realized there was an outstanding order. The servers were very disorganized, told us the order was not there. Then looked again then blamed the system for not pushing the order to the cooks.
What I'm most upset about is, the lack of organization and communication. Unfortunately, the server could barely articulate why the order was not ready. I feel that is poor customer service and it is a shame as I was a reoccurring customer. We were left waiting and it took close to 40 extra mins after the scheduled time.
They were NOT apologetic or even cared. Unfortunately, I will no longer recommend this location....
Read moreMy wife and I enjoyed the BanhMiYes popup at the Fringe Festival, so I thought I'd drop by today and get us some lunch. I showed up at the Clyde Restaurant and the clerk helped me make my order of a Pulled Pork and Vegan Chicken banh mi.
After 10 minutes she sent me home with my packed order. It looked great but when I took my first bite of the Pulled Pork I was shocked that the meat was refrigerator cold. I immediately called the restaurant to ask it the Pulled Pork Meat is supposed to be cold and she insisted that it was heated and then cooled down, so that the vegetables wouldn't get wilted on my trip home.
I explained that the Pulled Pork Meat was not heated and cooled down. It was refrigerator cold. It was colder than the cucumber on the sandwich. I was concerned that I was eating something that wasn't food safe. I asked is the meat supposed to be cold because it wasn't at the Fringe Festival?
To which I was told that if I wanted a hot Pulled Pork banh mi, that I would have to tell them that when I ordered take out.
This experience has been very disappointing. This is why I hate tipping before getting served. My meal was terrible and obviously I'm not valued...
Read moreSimply the finest. The quality of ingredients and care for which they are put together is truly unbeatable. The banh mi you will have at this restaurant deserves every bit of the time and money you will put into eating it. Each ingredient is as fresh and succulent as the last, the bread rolls they use are soft and sweet and the fragrance of the loaf alone is enough to make you wonder what could be better. I honestly have never experienced anything like banhmiyes. The dedication to their craft is inspiring. The lack of compromise on any single ingredient, the sum of the parts of whatever dish you order is brought to an unthinkably delicious crescendo. I feel lucky to have ever found this restaurant. Its really once in a lifetime. Though I don't live in Ontario anymore, the memory of the truly sublime and affordable sandwiches I have been served from this establishment will never, ever leave my mind. A true gem, a masterpiece in simplicity of flavour, a tour de force in the culinary area they dared set foot in. Banhmiyes is truly one...
