Choice Indian Restaurant — Restaurant in Ottawa

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the experience we had at Choice restaurant on Thursday January 23, 2025. Although it was a weekday and the restaurant was not busy, the service provided was very poor, despite the food being good.

We initially ordered starters, which arrived significantly late, followed by the main course. We were required to wait an additional 20 minutes for naan to eat with our sabji. Also we order falooda which came without softy in it. At one point, a staff member (A lady owner) approached us to inquire about the food and service. We shared our concerns politely, explaining the delays we had experienced. While she acknowledged the issues, attributing them to insufficient staffing that day, she also claimed that I had been rude in my communication. I can assure you, however, that my tone was not rude, as corroborated by my friends who were with me at the time.

Furthermore, during our meal, one piece of plastic was found in the sabji that we had ordered. We immediately informed the staff about the issue. Regrettably, the lady owner did not make any effort to personally apologize for the situation.

The customers can provide feedback when service does not meet expectations. It is disheartening to be accused of rudeness by that lady owner when simply giving feedback after being asked in a respectful manner. I believe that better customer service training and more careful attention to detail could significantly improve the overall dining experience. I recently had the pleasure of dining at Choice, an authentic Indian culinary gem. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a cozy ambiance that set the stage for an unforgettable dining experience.

The menu boasted a tantalizing array of traditional Indian dishes, each prepared with utmost care and attention to detail. I started with the Aloo Tikki Chat With Chhole, a flavor-packed delight that perfectly whetted my appetite. For the main course, I indulged in the Bhaji Pav, a symphony of spices that danced on my palate with every bite. The Hara Bhara Kabab complemented the meal beautifully, adding a refreshing contrast of flavors.

Brace yourselves Ottawa foodies, this restaurant will take you on a joyride of flavours!! We have been there twice already in last 2 weeks since they opened their doors. On my first visit, I ordered their Dahi Puri, which was to die for! Munchurian (Gravy)was delicious and was served in ample quantities! Their Aloo Tikki Burger was true gem in their menu, and the wrap up I ordered Badshahi Faluda, which was better than my expectations, truly amazing! On my second visit, I started with myfav Dahi puri again, then Bhakhari Pizza - 10/10 and then Malai Tikka Paneer starter, and chhole bhature in main course both, two of these dishes I shared among 2 other people in my gang, which filled out tummies to max and we had to pack some of these to home. Coming to service, their staff was very welcoming and polite, were helping to understand menu items for all your questions.
