I’ve had various Haitian restaurants in the city but my first time trying, this one fell short for me. I ordered the griot plate. I will start by saying the portion of meat was nice n full. The meat was juicy. There’s 6 piece of plantain (which were perfect!) and 3 piece of this fried something I honestly couldn’t tell you what it is. It was flavourless. What really disappointed me was the salad and sides. It was only lettuce and 2 tomatoes with a bland ranch dressing…The salad could be more colourful and appealing to eat. Also The side macaroni was bone dry and warm as if it sat out for too long. Lastly the pikliz was a bit salty and the cabbage wasn’t as crunchy. For 30 per dish plus 10 dollar tips dine in, you got unstable tables, food in to-go containers, plastic utensils and one thin tissue paper, no water service. Waiter never checked on us during dinner, I got up in the end to ask for a plastic bag and more tissue paper, the front lady looked around and said there is no paper for me, she could have just have give me another cheap plastic package that has the plastic utensils and paper in it, but she did not. The portions are generous and there are succulent sides that really pack a punch in flavor. We had the pork grio, mushroom rice and fried fish. All came with plantains, salad, coleslaw, the hottest hot sauce, and much more. The service was so friendly and welcoming.
