I hate writing negative reviews, because restaurant business is not easy, and at the end of the day this is people's livelihoods. But I need to be honest, and I hope this constructive criticism leads to improvements. Let's start with Lapointe's identity. If you're presenting yourself as an upscale seafood restaurant and charging high prices, you should have cloth napkins at the tables, not paper towel napkins. Also, if you're going to charge $20 for a calamari appetizer, it has to be excellent calamari, not below average. As for the service, it was ok, and the atmosphere was nice in terms of decor, but that was ruined by flies hovering over our table and food. We were sitting indoors, not on a patio! The server did comment, apologizing and saying it's the season for flies in Ottawa, but it's September and I've been to many restaurants lately; never had flies indoors. Also, if flies are in the dining area, that makes you wonder about the kitchen situation! Now regarding the food itself, the Fresh Trout was excellent ... very tasty and the sautéed spinach/mushroom side was exquisite. It was worth the $35 price tag, and I would highly recommend it. However, in contrast, the Mix Grill plate was so overpriced at $55. You can see in the attached pictures, most of the plate was vegetables! The seafood portions were very small, and unfortunately they were also average tasting. Maybe we should've ordered the sushi instead of the mix grill, and that would've improved the food experience, nonetheless when you pay $124 for an appetizer and 2 x main meals (no drinks, no dessert, including taxes but before tips), you expect that dinner experience to be excellent. Unfortunately, Lapointe was a disappointment.

I had dinner with my husband and my two sons at Lapointe Seafood Grill & Sushi. We had Tempura Tiger Shrimp and Crispy Calamari as appetizers. As for our main course, we had ordered Lobster Roll, Haddock fish & chips (regular and special) and lastly the Hazelnut Brownie as dessert. The portions were bigger than we thought and everything was fresh and delicious. Melanie was our server, she was excellent and very friendly with a positive attitude all the time. She never rushed us to finish our meal, despite the fact the restaurant had closed. Overall great service and food !

My husband and I stopped here for a quick bite before a concert at the Canadian Tire Centre. The service was extremely fast and friendly with our food being served within 15 minutes. We ordered the calimari as an appetizer which was excellent and we both had the cod and fries. The batter was very thin, light and crispy and fries were hand cut. Everything was hot and delicious. We had the lime creme brulee for dessert and it was excellent too. The decor is a little tired, but clean and the food is reasonably priced. We would definitely return and try other menu items.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Lapoint Restaurant in Bells Corners, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. This hidden gem has truly mastered the art of creating unforgettable dishes.

The sushi at Lapoint Restaurant is, without a doubt, out of this world. The quality and freshness of the ingredients were immediately apparent in every bite. From classic favorites like the California roll to their unique and innovative creations, each piece was a delightful fusion of flavors and textures. It's evident that the sushi chefs here take their craft seriously, and it pays off in every mouthwatering morsel.

For those who appreciate a different kind of culinary delight, I can't recommend their fish and chips enough. The fish is perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and the chips are the ideal accompaniment. It's comfort food at its finest, and the taste is simply amazing. Whether you're a fan of seafood or looking for a hearty, satisfying meal, Lapoint's fish and chips are a must-try.

Equally impressive was the service at Lapoint. The staff was not only attentive but also genuinely friendly and accommodating. They made us feel welcome from the moment we stepped through the door. Their knowledge of the menu was evident, and they were more than happy to offer recommendations and answer any questions we had. It's clear that they care about providing a top-notch...

It was my first time there and I ordered a haddock beer battered fish and chips. Despite being pricey at 23.00 dollars, it was the worst fish and chips I have ever had. Both of them seemed they were rushed in fryer, the chips were darker than needed and tasted bitter. The fish was unevenly salted internally and due to frying in very hot oil, was filled with oil and some parts not cooked enough. Overall tasted quite bad. The best things on the plate were coleslaw and tarter sauce, but they too could not save the entire dish. For 23 bucks a plate, plus taxes and tip, it was quite crazy. The service was good and the food arrived in about 5 minutes after ordering (which explains how it was quick fried in very hot oil). Never going to this place again

UPDATED REVIEW

The owner Jacob, reached out to me and was sympathetic about my experience. He offered us two complimentary meals and invited us to the restaurant to make things better. We went back this evening and had a wonderful experience. From the server, to the service and the entire meal, everything was perfect. We were very happy and really appreciated the owner taking pride in his restaurant and inviting us to change our views about the food. Not only food, or the desert, even my coffee was fresh and delicious. Thank you Jacob and your staff for making things...
