Main Street Cafe — Restaurant in Ottawa

I use to love main street cafe. I have eaten here a lot over my 30 years in Stittsville, I have continued to go back but noticed the food has progressively got worse in taste. This last time we went the service was terrible. We stood at the door for a long time before someone acknowledged that we were there and then once we sat down it took forever for the waitress to come. We placed our order. Now, I do understand that finding good staff is hard right now. But it does not excuse waitress walking by the table multiple times without acknowledgement or a simple I will be right with you. Simple things go along way when it comes to customer service. I watched my food sit on the pass and when I finally got it was cold. I THINK the food is good... although I have not received my order that we placed 20 minutes ago, which was 15 minutes after we stepped into the door... So I think it's fair to take 1 star off for every 10 minutes we spent idling. Yes, I use "idle" because there was no utensils, napkins, crayons or papers... Oh, we finally got food, but it was not what I we ordered... I think this place is good for people who don't mind spending 2 hours just to get a simple breakfast. But I will try other places in the next long while... Tips for the owner: prioritize and level up the service, seating new customers first before you collect money from multiple table... Train your waiter/waitress, utensils and simple stuff for customers with kids, check-in with customer more regularly, I didn't manage to ask for more coffee because the waitress was...

4years later Edit: we moved away from the area, but decided to stop in before work today. I will start by saying it was NOT busy at all. The coffee is AWEFUL tasting, we waited 30mins for 2 eggs benedict. The potatoes were sad looking, not golden at all with barely sweated onion tossed in them (30minutes you would certainly expect a bit of caramelization) there was no offer on how we wanted our eggs cooked, the eggs tasted of vinegar from the poaching water, my boyfriend got a rotten black piece of potato. After 30mins wait, I didnt have time to complain to get it fixed before needing to head off to work. ate less than half my meal, boyfriend only ate his eggs and a few potato before being turned off by the rotten bit.
