My friends and their families came to eat after our hockey game which was part of the tournament going on down the street. There were 9 of us so we were a decently sized group. We wanted a good, well reviewed sit down place to eat at and this seemed like the perfect place to eat at in that moment. We got it recommended by someone we saw at the arena. We ended up leaving more disappointed than ever and will never return.
First off, we entered and stood there for around 2 minutes without anyone telling us to just sit ourselves or whether they wanted to sit us themselves. We ended up just sitting ourselves which we had no problem in doing.
Everything seemed like it was going to be fine from then on but, I was completely wrong. My dad an I got our food in a decent amount of time (around 15-20 minutes). I had ordered the Chipotle burger which did not meet my expectations. The burger patty was dry, it didn’t have any veggies on it (which I thought was just how it came so I was fine at that moment), there was the tiniest bit on chipotle sauce to the point where I couldn’t even taste it, and my salad didn’t come with dressing which wasn’t a big deal at the time because I would’ve just asked for some but the server was no where to be found. I wanted to wait for everyone else to get their food to start eating mine but, after 5 minutes I decided to just eat my burger before it got cold.
By the time I finished my burger (which I tried to eat slow) only one other person at the table apart from my dad and I had their food which was another dry burger which no veggies (although it was supposed to come with them) and a salad with also no dressing.
By this time it had been at least 15 minutes since I finished my food and no one else and gotten their food. It seemed like the kitchen had made each individual meal separate instead of making it all at the same time. Plus, we still hadn’t seen the server to ask for dressing or refills on our drinks.
Everyone had gotten their food after around 45 minutes of waiting (which all came out at different times) and I noticed my friend who ordered the exact same burger as me, had veggies on his burger and a pickle spear on the side. I was so confused why he got them and I didn’t when we ordered the exact same thing My other friends chicken caesar wrap had little to no caesar dressing and he said it tasted extremely dry. Someone else at our table got the greek wrap which she described tastes like an “ash trey.” She couldn’t even finish half of it. The server did end up taking it off of her bill which was appreciated but she ended up leaving as hungry as she was before we got there. The server eventually brought dressing for our salads and refills for our drink but, it was probably 20 minutes since we had finished our mains. I’m not 100% sure if they gave us any discounts (apart from the greek wrap) even though we definitely deserved a discount.
Please, if you’re in a group with more than 4 people, avoid coming here. They do not know how to properly take care of larger groups. There are much better places in the area to go. I’m surprised this place is rated so high when this was one of if not the worst dining experience i’ve had in my life. Do...
Read moreOur group waited awkwardly for several minutes to be seated, the host instantly created a tense atmosphere, he was neither courteous nor friendly. He did not offer to seat us, so we requested a table for our group. Right from the start, it felt like we were not welcomed. When he came to ask us if our table would like drinks, he was extremely aggressive and rude, he seemed to think it was okay to address us like we were wasting his time and energy and adding unnecessary steps to his workload when all we initially asked for was a glass of water. When we requested water, the waiter/host asked in the most condescending tone; “Are you just ordering for yourself? Or are you going to order for the whole table… I don’t want to bring you all water if you’re not all going to drink it”. He implied that we would waste water if we all asked for some and didn’t drain the glass. He talked down to us and our entire table was instantly uncomfortable. I have never felt more diminished in my life, I was under the impression that this neighbourhood was inclusive and safe. That was not the case when coming to this establishment. I doubt the host gave the rest of the patrons the same attitude, as our group was the most diverse in the room. This type of behaviour and attitude has ensured that no one in our group or anyone else we know ever comes back to this establishment, and I encourage any POC thinking of trying this place...
Read moreOriginal review 14Jan2022: Decided to order takeout from O’Grady’s on Friday, January 14, 2022 as we were craving wings and had heard good things. Would have liked to eat in but covid prevented that. We ordered 2 sets of wings and a Swiss mushroom burger. The wings were average and they had forgotten the dipping sauce for the sweet potato fries. Neither of those would warrant such a low rating but the burger was completely pink on the inside and tasted raw. We called the restaurant to let them know of this (we also tried frying the burger to cook it properly) and were asked for our name and number and a manager would get back to us. Unfortunately it’s been 24 hours and no response. Definitely would not go back to this place.
Edit 30JAN2022: Mike, the GM of O’Grady’s contacted us a few days later to apologize for our experience. He offered to comp our next meal. We ordered 2 orders of wings, the chipotle burger, and the jerk chicken tacos. The tacos were delicious as were the wings. I will still say the beef patty for the chipotle burger lacks flavor but it was definitely cooked all the way through this time. The service was great and we would...
