Ottawa Shawarma — Restaurant in Ottawa

The Potatoes were Great! Totally recommended. The shawarma was good too. The garlic sauce was not the thick kind, but the more smooth spreadable kind. Think more the consistency of mayo. Not the think stuff that I prefer. But it was still good! Ingredients were fresh and so was the chicken. I got a small. but it was by no means a small wimpy shawarma.

I spoke the the young lady behind the till for a few moments while I waited for the staff to finish up with my food and she was charming and fun.

What a wonderful, GREAT SMELLING, clean, tasty shawarma shop to have in my neighbourhood. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend. Now if I only I could find these guys on Trip Advisor...

ONE NEGATIVE: I will mention that they have that annoying Tip option on their debit machine. I hate when you go to buy take out and they want a tip. Tips are for after you received good service at a sit down meal. I know I am not the only person who dislikes this, but polite Canadians don't often speak up. We talk about it online LOL

*Edit I'll add this now having been a few more times. I went for a lunch time shawarma around 11am The lettuce was a little brown and probably day old and the chicken on my sandwich was not heated through. I'm not sure whenthey begin heating the meat but I suspect it hadn't been on that long .i.e. Not ready to serve.

So I still recommend this place, but not for lunch. Come for dinner when they've had time to heat...

I've lost almost fifty pounds in a few months on keto. The very beginning of keto was hard because I thought that there was no options for delicious fast food that I could eat. I started coming to Ottawa shawarma several times a week for lunches and dude, they kill it. The two guys that I always see are beauties. Super friendly, and they make the hell out of my salad. And the salads are dope too. I just tried a beef salad today. I prefer the chicken one, but it was still awesome. I love it here and I'm stoked I figured out that shawarma salads are a keto friendly super delicious and super filling meal. They stack it with protein. I can't say enough good things. I always tip these dudes because they are awesome here. I hope that some other keto people see this review because Ottawa shawarma has been a game changer. I thought dieting would be hella hard, but it's the opposite now that I come here regularly. Plus they sell Bitcoin too, which is cool. I haven't bought any through them yet, but I dabble a lot in Bitcoin and I'm jazzed to see other businesses taking it seriously. Super cool. Great guys and...

First things: the sandwich was good. The meat was juicy and the begins were fresh.

The potatoes were very stale. The texture suggested that they were cooked and sat for hours, possibly overnight.

The server who was helping us stopped every few seconds to talk with his friend who was also in line and it took far longer than it should have to just get the sandwiches made. There is nothing wrong with chatting with a familiar customer but only do so if you can work while you talk.

None of the servers wore gloves, and they served three people all while wiping their hands on their aprons and handling tools without washing their hands once. I watched them roll deeply into our sandwiches only to reach their sauce covered fingers over to roll the next customers.

None of these alone are reasons to avoid a restaurant but for sure I will think twice before...
