Sushi Sama — Restaurant in Ottawa

Very disappointed and disgusted! We had an important celebration on 28 of August and decided to order sushi. My daughter, who actually was craving for sushi went to pick it up. When we set the table and open the platter, we noticed that all the items there were kind of withered with dull coloration and dried edges. Our mood was so elevated so we mutually and silently decided to pretend that everything is OK and tried to enjoy the food although the taste was dull. Even the wasabi which usually would be a great cold remedy, was very mild. The last drop that overflowed our patience was that my daughter and my wife tasted some of the bits and they were MOULDY! Let me insert here, this is row food that can be prone to any bacterial and whatever development! So, potentially DANGEROUS! My daughter picked up the phone and call the restaurant to ask for refund. This is the next to zero minimum they could have done. After to and forth eventually she spoke to the manager who offered her a credit. Who would agree to be exposed to potential poisoning second time!!! Later, she received another call from them and they asked her to go to the restaurant with some pictures and samples to show them in order to get the refund. Isn't it ridiculous! They obviously know what they have given to us (maybe some leftover form a previous party) but to torture her even more to bring a prove. And yes, we still keep the samples in our freezer for further reference. I don't want to be extreme, but don't think a business at such form should...

Ordered lunch for my husband and I. Was hoping to dine in but didn’t realize the place is takeout only. However, The sushi was amazing. I’m a sushi connoisseur since I’m from Vancouver (LOL) we just moved to Ottawa and I’m very impressed with this takeout place. The prices are really reasonable (particularly the lunch specials!) and the ingredients in them were very fresh. Super comparable to what I’m used to. The only downside for me were the albacore nigiri pieces, which weren’t as fresh, but I wasn’t expecting much considering albacore is from the west (I was just feeling nostalgic). For the two lunch specials we ordered, C and D, we got more food than we could eat (but of course we managed to stuff it down). I really liked the chef’s choice of rolls in the specials, I initially was worried they might skimp on more raw fish but I was wrong. Big rolls filled with ingredients and especially impressed with the salmon rolls. I honestly am thinking of coming back for...

Favorite place for sushi take-out in the city. Ingredients are always fresh and their fish is great quality. Love how consistent they are with their dishes - rolls are always filled generously which I love - they don't skimp on the fillings here!

Spicy mayo here is soo good, and I love how many other sauces like wafu and fusion sauces they have. Very large menu with a lot to close from, sushi pizzas are delicious - love the tempura veggie & avocado one the best.

I love their smoked salmon, it would be great if they added a smoked salmon option for hosomakis on the menu. I wish they gave a bit more edamame as well for the price, & a vegetarian assorted plate would be an appreciated addition to their menu as...
