Authentic Vietnamese Pho House (GREENBANK) — Restaurant in Ottawa

I had Authentic Vietnamese Pho House for the second time last week after a previous excellent experience. Once again, our meal was fantastic. I originally selected it based on hearing it was safe for celiacs. They were knowledgeable about celiac disease and the precautions needed to ensure I didn’t get sick, and friendly and attentive in providing service. The portion sizes were fantastic. We had the satay chicken rice wraps, and I had chicken and shrimp rice noodle soup in chicken broth. The broth was flavourful, the ingredients fresh, and the portions were huge. Price was completely reasonable - for our family of 4 with tax and tip we came in just a shade above $100. Everyone enjoyed their meals and felt full and satisfied. I've been twice now, and both times were just average. Both times I ordered the chicken broth BBQ pork pho, and it was okay. The broth is a little bland and plain compared to other Pho I've had. It required a lot of hoisin and some hot sauce in order to give it the right amount of flavour. Portions are huge, so that's great. The veggies that come with the soups are always fresh and in large portions too. Both times the wait to get our soups was far too long.. 20 minutes or more I'd say. The place was busy and there was even a line up for take out, so it was understandable, but for just average pho, I'm not sure I'd often wait that long again. Considering this is in Barrhaven, I can confidently say that out of all the options in the area this is probably some of the best pho I’ve had in quite a while. The woman that served me today was so kind not only to me but also to other customers. I saw her recommend some dishes to other people and overall her energy was very sweet unlike some other places where it feels as if though they want you out of the place asap. The food was delicious and I got the beef broth, definitely recommend the house made chili oil and add a bit into the soup. Creates a wonderful kick to the soup.
