Best pho in Ottawa....love that restaurant 😋😋 Update 2024-08-04: We were regular clients going at least 2 or 3 times a month for the past 20 years and it was the best pho for the longest time. New owners took over and weren't supposed to make any changes to the Pho recipe which they honored for a few months but on 2024-08-04 after not going for a few months we were dissappointed and dissatisfied....the new owner made changes to some ingredients to the Pho and NOT for the better!! The broth is still amazing and yummy but they changed the chicken which is in chunks now, chewy and rubbury.... and the noodles are now bigger which we liked the smaller ones much better before. They used to put real baked chicken cut into thin slices and were very tender. Now I guess they are trying to cut corners since they now use the cheap kind of chicken (same kind that you get in fast food restaurants like Thai Express) Why change anything especially for the chicken!! The previous owner had it for more then 25 years and it was delicious so why change it!! We ate our soup but not the chicken and left it on side plate! Not sure we will be back unless they revert back to the chicken they used previously which is really sad because it was our go to place for Pho for many years +20!! Reason why I updated my 5 stars to a 2 stars 😞

What to try? Of course try their house special pho. That means going for #21 or #22. When you go to a new pho restaurant, it's important to try their house special because you get to try all the ingredients a pho has to offer all at once! Beef tendon, beef, brisket, beef balls and tripe alll in the bowl. In comparison to what you find in Toronto, the prices here in Ottawa are a bit more pricey for the pho. Still offered in three different sizes though! We also had the rice paper roll. What I liked about this place is that their rice paper rolls are not only the typical shrimp rolls but they also offer the roll with beef, chicken or pork! So you can choose. Pretty awesome! Last tip? Cash only at this place. Make sure you try things that are not typically found in other Viêt Pho places like rice paper rolls with pork, beef or chicken!

Been going there regularly for 20 years and it was the best pho for the longest time, Now that new owners took over they made changes to the Pho!! Although the broth is still amazing and tasty they changed the chicken pieces and the noodles which were much better before. They used to put real baked chicken that was cut into thin slices and were very tender but this morning we went after a few months of not going and the chicken was in chunks and very rubbery , the cheap kind. If it was good for the past 25 years why change it!! The first 3 pics are the Pho soup and rubbery chicken we removed from our soup today since we did not like it!! And last pic is what it used to be with thinly shaved real baked chicken.

After trying pho in many different cities, including popular places like Vancouver, I have to say that the pho I had from Pho Thu Do restaurant in Ottawa was hands down the best Pho I've ever had. From the moment my husband walked in, he said he could tell that this place was special - the aroma of simmering broth and spices filled the air and the owner greeted him with a warm smile and excellent service. It turns out that the reason for this was that the restaurant had recently been taken over by a new owner who has significantly improved the quality of the food and service.

I ordered a bowl of their traditional beef pho and was blown away by how fresh and flavourful it was. The broth was rich and savory, with just the right balance of sweetness, saltiness, and umami. The noodles were perfectly cooked and the beef was tender and flavorful. I could taste the freshness of the ingredients in every bite. I’ve never previously tasted pho that was this fresh. We were very impressed. The spring rolls are to DIE FOR.😍

But what really made this pho experience stand out was the service. The owner went above and beyond to make sure that we had everything we needed. He was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. It was clear that he and his wife took pride in their work and in providing an exceptional dining experience.

Overall, I would highly recommend this pho place to anyone visiting Ottawa. The food is top-notch, the service is outstanding, and the atmosphere is cozy and inviting. Whether you're a pho connoisseur or just looking for a delicious and satisfying meal, you won't be...

This is an outstanding restaurant - this might be one of the best Vietnamese restaurants I've been to in my life (I am visiting here from another country - and apparently I camouflage myself around here pretty well because the majority of the locals including the owners of this restaurant, thought I was from Canada). The service is always A plus - and I'm very hard to please regarding food. I always order the Vermicelli at a Vietnamese restaurant - and my test for the restaurant is - is the food greasy as hell? I've had incredibly greasy Vermicelli before - and that's the result of a low quality cut of meat that ends up greasing up the entire offering. Not the case here - the meat was very lean, not greasy, and very fresh (the noodles and the vegetables were very fresh). Here's the other thing: I'm a Caucasian man - and when I walked in the door on Sunday, I knew I found a place that the locals like - because 97% of the customers that night were of Asian descent - I was the only Caucasian man in the restaurant - so this is not a Westernized restaurant - this is the real deal here - very authentic Vietnamese food). The owners are incredibly...
