Solid and consistent restaurant. I’m so happy to have them in the neighbourhood. Everything that we’ve ordered has been delicious, and they’ve happily accommodated our requests. One day, I was just feeling like I really wanted a creamy curry but I also wanted to spice my life up. I’d typically get vindaloo to satisfy that need but they had no problem spicifying my korma. Everything comes piping hot and fresh and the portions have been beyond generous. Their naan is the best that I’ve had in this city. I’m so happy that they’ve seemingly survived the pandemic considering they opened like 6 mos before it started. They also seem like lovely people. BRB, the reminiscing has caused me to crave murgh makhani. Placing my order now.
Editing this because this place has honestly only gotten BETTER since its inception. I am once again here to sing its praises. We just had it tonight after not having gotten it in about two months, and I’m simply blown away at their consistency, portion sizes, and just great, great flavours. Usually you have to sacrifice either quality for quantity, but not here. The lamb biriyani is just so good, paired with the lamb madras that is perfectly spicy. The crispy onions and chilies on the top of the biryani was just divine, and the garlic naan is so stretchy, chewy, and flavourful. Murgh makhani delightfully creamy and rich, as usual. I have never been disappointed. So happy to live across the street from them. This is not an ad, I swear. I just get really happy when I can find both value and quality at the same time, especially when I can get there in 30...
Read moreThe food was worse than mediocre. We ordered chicken tikka masala and kadai paneer with tandoori and butter naans.
The paneer was taken out from frozen packets and then it was microwaved and then it was blended with mustard seeds. I've never seen any authentic paneer dish to go with mustard seeds.
Then the chicken tikka masala was more like chicken curry.
The naan were dry and rubbery, something you can't even chew properly.
Even though price of the naan and everything was on the menu, the final bill was charged more than what was shown on the menu. Upon asking the waiter, she said naan prices suddenly went up.
Ottawa seriously needs better Indian restaurants. Even if i had no other option, i would not recommend to go to this restaurant for Indian or any kind of food.
The location doesn't even have free parking, it's more like in home project than the restaurant. Someone just thought to use their living room as diner and started this hideous place.
Don't let other...
Read moreFOOD WAS TERRIBLE!! We ordered a veg and chicken biryani with instructions to make the chicken biryani (spicy) and veg biryani (extra spicy ). However the biryani we received had raw uncooked chilli powder all over it ! As soon as we opened the box we could smell the raw chilli powder, we tried eating a few spoons but the chilli powder was really strong . Just because we asked for a spicy biryani , it is absolutely wrong to put uncooked chilli powder on it . Having just taken a few spoons we already feel unwell with in our stomachs . If Mehfil does not do spicy biryanis that could have been communicated instead of what we had to go through . In addition., the biryani is just bland. No taste of biryani spices at all. And they didn’t provide Raita with the biryani which is totally unauthentic..We literally felt like eating raw chilli powder rice. Absolutely disappointed in an order we spent 40...
