Burrito Gringo Mexican Grill( Kanata) — Restaurant in Ottawa

Went for lunch today and it was chaotic. They had just opened and were dealing with a big order when we walked in. They interrupted that and took our orders and made our food. But then, before charging and serving us our food - they went back to the big order. By the time we got our food, my friend's quesadilla was burned. They intentionally turned it over so the worst burned side was down (we saw them do this). When I asked if they were actually going to serve it given it was burned, they ignored me. My burrito sat on the press for at least five mins before I got it so the wrap was dried out. None of this is good but my biggest complaint is that the food was simply not very good. This place is all about the quantity of food they give. They just smash stuffs to our bowl and wraps. If you say you want more meat, they will just drop an another chunk of it. This is what I like about this place. The quality is also superb. I love the burrito bowl with shredded beef, rice and veggies here. It’s large in quantity for the price and it’s kinda healthy compared to other fast food chains I guess 😜. The staffs are really friendly. They have both outdoor and indoor seatings. Overall, this is an excellent place to grab lunch as the service is fast.

Tip : Don’t go for the extra large burrito bowls, the quantity is almost same as for the large bowl. The drinks are expensive here, so check price...

Overall the experience was not bad at all to be honest.

The reason I gave them a single star was because of portion size. This new Kanata north location skimps on the good stuff from the meat, veggies, sauces and cheese.

The beauty is that I have a benchmark in this instance. The merivale location does it much better than Kanata. They are generous with all of the fixings and much more receptive face to face for what it's worth. I imagine both locations belong to the same owner as well. If so, Kanata needs merivales blueprint please!
