RATED Recommended by friends, with other friends turning vegetarian and vegan over the last few years, and with a keen interest in healthy food, my daughter and I were eager to check out Pure Kitchen as her venue of choice to host about 15 people for her upcoming birthday. We had called ahead and were told that no reservations were necessary for groups under 5 people, but that finding a table would not prove a problem. We were therefore very surprised, after having been greeted with a chirpy and utterly impersonal "Hi, how's it going, guys?" by the hostess in the front, that she seemed at a loss when we answered that we would like to have dinner for two. As this obviously needed a consultation with higher ups, the hostess made for the back of the venue where many members of staff were waiting behind the bar or working in the kitchen. When the hostess came back, she apologized, saying that there were no tables available, but that we could wait for a table in the bar area on the right hand side of the restaurant over drinks and appetizers, only if we committed to a table in the dining room afterwards. Both my daughter and I were not welcome to have a look at the dining room area. When we asked whether we could eat in the bar area, we were told that this was not possible as they could not serve dinner there. I have to mention here that this area had been completely empty, besides a young woman trying out a chocolate cake (obviously not a drink or an appetizer). A managerial looking woman was called in to repeat the wording the hostess had offered earlier, upon which my daughter cleverly remarked that short of throwing us out, they did everything they could to get rid of us. As a management consultant and business adviser who helped set up businesses and who developed workshops on customer service, I was utterly perplexed and shocked at the way we were treated. Whether we were witness to the implementation of a business model created equal for everybody, or only for specific customers, maybe those who might not exactly fit the bill (I am a full-figured middle aged woman and my boyish-styled lesbian daughter uses a walker to get around), I did not care to find out. Other patrons, also greeted by the same chirpy "Hi, how's it going, guys?" by the same hostess, were quickly processed to the dining room area within the 5-7 minutes we spent in the establishment. As to ourselves, this would remain the only time we would ever set foot in Pure Kitchen. The loss is...
Read more** edit: ended my 3 year blacklist of this location. The service still sucks, you'll wait 10+ minutes for someone to acknowledge you and then they'll be snooty and look down on you. Trash place still, go to another location.
Usually Pure Kitchen is my favourite place to dine. This was mine and my boyfriends first time at the Westboro location as we normally go to the one on Elgin. We came by for lunch this past Friday March 1st. I'm on crutches right now due to a broken ankle and when we came in the young woman at the counter was very polite and accommodating. She sat us in a nice spot and gave us menus. Our server took some time coming by, she was an older woman with short grey hair. She asked for our drink orders but we weren't quite ready and asked for a few more minutes and she mumbled under her breath and left us. It took her over 10 minutes to come back and get our order. We ordered food and drinks at the same time. A few minutes later she returned because she had forgotten my food order. She was very rude about it too. I was really appalled at her attitude and the fact that she kept mumbling under her breath. She didnt act this way with any of her other tables and spent a good deal of time at them. I can't help but feel like it was because I'm on crutches right now. Anyway, she didn't run our drinks, the other waitress did and she didn't run our food, the other waitress did. When she came over to quality check us, it wasn't polite either. She simply demanded if we needed anything else and when we said we were good she mumbled under her breath about us. We were so upset we asked for the bill right away and for 2 boxes. We came out to Pure Kitchen to have a nice lunch and were treated like garbage by the server, we couldn't even enjoy our meal let alone finish it there. She seemed annoyed we wanted to pay and leave right away and was even more rude. I will not be returning to this location. I have never felt so discriminated against for having a disability, yes it is temporary, but nonetheless the disrespect we received was...
Read moreFrom 2 stars to 5 stars and beyond! I'm really impressed with the improvements Pure Kitchen has made, I'm so thrilled to see that they've taken care of all of our concerns. We love Pure Kitchen and continue to be happy, weekly customers! :) I'm honestly quite gutted that I feel the need to write this review. My husband and I have always considered Pure Kitchen as our favourite restaurant in the city. We've been eating at Pure Kitchen for five years now, and in the past year, once a week, we order takeaway from them because we love their food and want to support them through these times. However, unfortunately, the food quality and attention to detail are not the same.
We both order the buffalo cauliflower wrap with a side of fries. One wrap with one modification: +cheddar
Here are a few things we've noticed over the past few months that we're sadly disappointed by: The amount of fries per serving is extremely inconsistent. Some weeks we get a massive serving, other weeks, we get a handful. The wraps themselves are not wrapped tight enough; when you take the paper off, the wrap begins to fall apart and creates a mess. The cauliflower has been undercooked and pretty tough. The wrap with the modification is often not marked, so we often don't know which one has the cheddar cheese addition.
We love Pure Kitchen, and we really hope we can come back to the reviews in a bit and amend this review to the five stars the restaurant deserves. We're just a bit disappointed in what we've been receiving recently, and we truly hope this review can help for...
