Booked afternoon tea for my daughter's birthday, as she loves the macarons from there. I asked for 3:00, but was told a very large group were already booked. 2:00 was fine...OK. When we arrived, we were seated at the round table in the window. Very cute place, but window was still decorated for Christmas. The menu for macarons had half the flavours whited out. The server did not tell us there were actually other flavours in the case, besides the ones NOT whited out on the menu... hmm slightly odd. We were served our tea, and tower of foods. Mostly delicious, although, the serving of cream and jam was tiny for the 3 of us, and we had to ask for teaspoons. Once we got served, we were pretty much ignored. The staff moved the tables around to accommodate the 3:00 group, who all started to arrive, knocking into our table as they took their seats. still, we were ignored. I had to go up to the counter to ask for more hot water for the tea. The server who brought our teapots back made some comment about trying not to spill on us, as he was used to it, but not everyone is. (used to having boiling water on the back of his neck?...) Eventually, the man who's voice I recognized from when I booked came over, asked how things were and gave my daughter a small box of macarons for her birthday, which was very nice. So... although the food was great, I felt like the staff saw us as a nuisance. When you are spending $120 plus tax and tip, for a very special occasion, a bit of attention, and not getting squished into a corner would...
Read moreThis is my third visit, I really enjoyed the first two visits but did not enjoy this one at all
When I made the reservation online, I indicated no seafood. When they called me to confirm, they mentioned that I had indicated no seafood. I called later to add a third person, without me mentioning it, the person I spoke with mentioned that we had ordered no seafood so I felt good that they were clear that we were to have no seafood
When we received our classic tee, the server did not let us know what was on the platter. I assumed, because it had been confirmed so many times that there would be no seafood. Then I bit into one of the sandwiches only to taste that it was salmon, which I cannot eat at all. I brought it to the server's attention, she lightly apologized and brought me a new sandwich.
Also, we did not receive our fruit salad until after we were finished with the rest of our food.
There were other smaller issues with the service as well.
In addition, we were not shown our bill at all, were only given the payment machine so we did not see itemized charges.
The payment machine only allows for tipping of 15%, 18%, 20% or no tip at all. It does not allow for customized tipping amounts.
There were several small and not so small issues with our visit, most importantly though was the salmon that I ate. I did not feel well for the rest of the day unfortunately...
Read moreThis was my first time going with a friend. I found most of the staff very short with us but there was a lovely girl who went to take our orders of food and drink at the counter. While she was taking my order and typing it into the register, a young man who works there came up and began chastising her for something and basically kicked her off the cash and turned to me and pointedly told me my purchase was on the debit machine. He didn’t even tell me how much the total was or ask how I was paying, which was cash. I had also ordered a box of macarons and he stormed off without even giving me the cookies. Thankfully, the lovely young lady brought our drinks to our table and I politely asked her for them. She was wonderful and personable, as well as professional. The food was delicious but for $9, the sandwich I ordered was very small and I didn’t feel it was worth the price. The iced coffee was a nice treat though. All told, I’m not sure I would be rushing back as I didn’t find everyone there overly welcoming or very clear on...
