STACKED - Smoked Meat & Grill — Restaurant in Ottawa

I stopped by for take out at 12:15pm on Saturday, April 16th 2022...I ordered an 8 ounce smoked meat sandwich with fries at a cost of about $22.00. I had a 7 minute drive to my home. The sandwich and fries were piled into a styrofoam container. The fries were cold...not warm but cold. Nice color to them but rather tasteless.

There was a generous portion of tasty smoke meat but it was piled onto a way too small slice of rye bread which made it impossible to pick up as a sandwich is intended to be picked up ! Also, the bread was sopped and soggy and sweaty !!! No dill pickle or coleslaw. 3*s were awarded because the smoked meat was quite good, otherwise 1.5 or 2 would have been more appropriate. LOSE THE STYROFOAM CONTAINERS.

I had a clear view of the open kitchen from the take out podium. One fella was walking around gloveless, at times sampling different foods with one hand, appearing to really enjoy what he was eating and at the same time preparing orders before him. He spotted me watching but he seemed unaffected... I waited an extra 3 or so minutes while a server tracked down the hostess who took my order to ask her if I had paid for my meal. She could have asked me directly and I could have produced my receipt ( had I been offered one ).

I'll try dine in sometime and let you know what I find...no more take out from this business...

Went for breakfast, i used to frequent it when it was funny, $6.99 breakfast special was great. It's now $11.99 big inflation jump, but whatever. Went on a weekend for breakfast. It was not busy at all so bonus. But that is the only positive thing there was. I ordered a coffee, it literally looked like they ran it through twice. It was watered down for sure. I get trying to cut cost. But this was literally brown water. Do better. My wife ordered breakfast that came with a pancake. The pancke looked like it was made in advance and then slapped on the grill to heat it. The all too crisp top made it clear that is what was done. It was almost white and under done. You think they would have at least tried to brown it and made it visually more appealing. Instead it was dry. The eggs at least were cooked well. So good job there. I had a scramble poutine, my eggs were brown and overcooked, more of an omelet style and not a scramble (yes there is or at least should be a difference) they were dry brown and overdone. All in all it was horrible. The wait staff was great and friendly. The food was not. My advice if you want a decent breakfast please go elsewhere. I for one will be driving past stacked from now on and heading 10 mins down the road to...

Generous Portions and a Smile — But Does It Deliver on Flavor?

I dropped into this local smoked meat joint with high hopes and an empty stomach. Right from the start, the service stood out — our waitress was incredibly warm and welcoming, the kind of energy that instantly elevates a casual dining experience. When the food arrived, it was clear that this place doesn’t skimp on portions — especially when it comes to the smoked meat. The plate was piled high, an impressive visual that any meat lover would appreciate. If you're here for volume, you won’t be disappointed.

Flavor-wise, however, it didn’t quite reach the heights I was hoping for. The meat was fine — not overly seasoned, not particularly smoky or bold. Just… there. It filled the sandwich, but didn’t quite fill the soul. Sides were decent, though nothing to write home about.

That said, the generous serving and standout service make it worth a visit if you're in the area and craving a meat-heavy meal without the frills. Come hungry, leave full — and don’t forget to tip your waitress well. She’s...
