As someone with a severe egg allergy it's great to be able to go into a bakery and know that everything there is safe for you to eat and you can order anything that appeals to you. If you didn't know it was vegan you wouldn't think twice about it, my husband even loved them and he doesn't have any dietary restrictions.
Over the years I've had to just make my own egg free baked goods at home so I don't actually get to indulge all that often because it's a lot of work and often goes to waste because it's too much for us. It's great to know there's a place I can go and get a small piece of dessert whenever I want. Also love that it's sold at Farmboy.
I've spent countless hours in bakeries in the past having to review the ingredients on each item to check for egg only to be disappointed that most items contained it. I also almost never bother getting any baked goods or sweets when I'm out with family or friends because I don't like having to get the workers to check ingredients on every single potential item I'd like to try and then finding out there's nothing I can have. Having this place where I can walk in, not have to ask questions and pick anything I...
Read moreAtrociously disgusting management that treats employees like expendable dogs. It doesn’t matter how hard you work, their penny pinching strategy is to fire you right before your 3 months probation so they don’t need to be responsible.
There is also blatant favouritism by the Westboro manager. The owner had allocated 25 hours of PTO to be distributed across the Westboro staff but the Westboro manager was overheard giving all the PTO to her favourite supervisor and told her to keep it a secret.
I understand supporting small businesses is important but please do NOT support this one. I don’t know about the original Kanata store but the manager at the Westboro store treats her employees extremely poorly.
There’s also another story of a girl being forced to lift very heavy equipment which damaged her shoulder severely. She had to go to the hospital and had lasting injuries. The store would not even acknowledge her injuries until lawyers had to get involved but that’s a story for another time.
TLDR; STAY CLEAR LIKE THE PLAGUE IF YOU SUPPORT...
Read moreI ordered a mix of cupcakes and a cake for a 2 year old birthday. Chocolate and Red Velvet cupcakes they were a hit. The cake was ordered Vanilla. When it was time to cut the cake with over 30 people in the house- the cake was brown and did not taste like vanilla at all. It tasted like spice cake. It was not good. Being it a 2 year olds party- it was not eaten. When I reached out to the bakery-they said- oh this happens with our vanilla products due to us being Vegan. I asked why they didn’t tell me that at the start and I could of made an informed decision about the cake and ordered chocolate. They said going forward they would. When you are in customer service and you do not live up to your end of the deal- an offer of a gift card to welcome me back as a wronged customer would have been a nice touch. They did not offer anything but an apology. That’s not customer care- that’s customer not care. We have your money and sorry about the fact no one...
