Eggspectation - Kanata — Restaurant in Ottawa

Worst service ever! I took my family here for a decent brunch but were treated as unwelcome. Please be aware if you are planning to go there and you are Asian.

Here is the story: We waited for more than 5 mins to be seated even the restaurant was not busy. Our waitress came with a poker face and no greetings. We ordered coffee and also asked for water but waited for 15 mins and got nothing - she’s right next to the coffee station, rather cleaning the table than bringing us the drinks. I had to wave at her otherwise she would never come over. When she’s taking our order, no single word came from her mouth. This is not the end - I ordered three dishes and waited for another 20 mins, only got two of them. I thought maybe she would bring it shortly but I was wrong. I asked her for the third dish and was told would be 5 mins. Fine, I have been waiting forever so 5 mins was not a big deal but I was wrong again. Another 10+ mins wait and I ran out of patience. Apparently she forgot my order. I eventually got my food because I asked her to cancel it. I was pretty upset since we were treated differently- same server as the table next to us but they were receiving much better service. The food was good but won’t...

Food was just ok. Eggs Benedict was a bit bland. Asked for slightly more done whites, but still runny eggs. Ended up getting fully cooked eggs, maybe between medium and hard. Plates were a bit empty and could use some jazzing up. The worst was the smoothies. For $10 you get a tiny glass of heavily diluted juice. Is it supposed to be like this?? It truly was horrible and I would highly recommend just getting juice instead. Coffee was good though. Service was meh. After serving never heard from wait staff until we asked for bill. The place is nice though. Bright and wide open so you don't feel cramped in there. As a frequent customer of Eggspectation's downtown Ottawa location, I was eager to visit their new spot in Kanata. I'm happy to say that this new location exceeded my “eggspectations”. The parking area is spacious, making it easy to access, and the ambiance inside is clean and well-organized, creating a welcoming atmosphere.

The food, as always, was beyond fantastic, and I was pleasantly surprised by the new menu offerings. I decided to try the Smoked Salmon Benedict, and it did not disappoint. The combination of the lemon cream cheese and the croissant was simply divine, adding a fresh twist to a classic dish.
