I've lived and shopped in the general area of World Burger for a few years, but for whatever reason never decided to give it a try until recently. I thought it was more sit down than casual, but the layout is similar to five guys; a line in from one door and basic seating area, which was nice and clean when I came at 5pm.
The food itself has tons of variety! Having never been, it was a bit intimidating to decide from all of the options, but after I sat down I was able to peruse the menu a bit more. They have your classics; beef and chicken burgers you can customize with standard toppings, as well as hotdogs and a basic kids menu for the under 10 crowd. The main draw is the centre screen of "signature burgers" themed from around the world (eyyyyy name puns) with a variety of more exotic toppings (I spied one with grilled gyro strips!) Rounding things out is a variety of "world poutines" and drinks. There are five gluten free burger options that span the variety of taste preferences
I personally opted for the Jump Burger, named for their sponsor(?) jump! radio; a beef burger piled up with jalapeños, steamed cheese curds, lettuce, bacon, a sizeable onion ring and finished with chipotle mayo. The gentleman behind the counter was friendly and helped me navigate the combo options, including letting me know I could opt for a small drink if I was eating in house, as refills are free. He also offered to bring my food out to my table when it was ready; a gesture I appreciated.

Read moreThis isn't world burger anymore. It's some Greek restaurant and that should have been my first red flag. We decided to try it regardless of its confusing branding since this was previously our favorite burger joint on ottawa.
We arrive the the front door to have 2 peices of paper on the doors to denote take out or dine in directions. Seems rather unprofessional and low budget how it's presented. Red flag #2
We wait to be seated it's now a full dining experience? The waitress asks us to sit and doesn't bring us menus. We get ourselves menus and see that the large variety of burgers is now 6 and a bunch of Greek foods. Disappointing but expected with the weird branding change. We wait another 5 minutes before the waitress brings us water and takes our drink orders. We at this point start discussing if we should go elsewhere despite the red flags. We decide to give it a shot request our drinks and look over the menu. Another 5 minutes later finally get our drinks. But the waitress doesn't take our order and runs off.
Very frustrated at this point I take a sip of my drink to find it watered down and flat. This the last red flag we decide at this point to leave.
Whatever this rebrand is for world burger is not working. You guys should just get rid of the world burger off brand crap and stop lying to your former patrons. Never coming back. Go to the works to get...
Read moreThey are often out of drinks and instead of refunding that part of the order they just send you diet or another drink. It's happened to me over 5 times now and I won't be ordering from here for much longer if it happens again.
It happened again and I will no longer be ordering from this location. When I called to ask why they were sending random drinks they said they contacted me through Uber then when I confronted them about having the app open the entire time and never being contacted they switched to "we were having trouble contacting through the app". I asked why they're lying because they've done the same thing at least 6 times and I got an "excuse me" as if I said something offensive and started getting attitude so I told the lying guy on the phone to f off.
You want to have an attitude with me over your error you've made multiple times and then tried to lie to me about then you lose a daily customer. I've been nothing but nice when speaking to them up to today but this guy's attitude and lying were the last straw. I hope the owner knows whatever cook or cashier that answered the phone around 6:45pm on Thursday just lost them $400 or more a month with his trash attitude and customer service.
Imagine ordering something on amazon and the seller runs out so they just decide to send you something completely different, hilarious they think...
