I've been here a couple of times so far as it's nice to have a pub close by in my neighborhood again. The cocktail menu here is a little m'eh, nothing really stood out to me, however their "Dutch Mule" (Moscow Mule) was pretty good. As a Cider drinker, I'd rather see something other than Strongbow on the menu and preferably an option on tap. I can agree with a previous review and say that drink prices are probably a dollar or two more than what the average person would like to pay.
The food menu at this place outshines the drink menu. There's wide variety of things offering something for everyone. The food is quite good in taste and quality. However the portion sizes for what you pay is quite small. $15 for a burger +$3 to upgrade the fries to a poutine. The burger was excellent and as expected however the side of fries or poutine in this case was as much as you could fit in a cupped hand or a small soup bowl. Tasted amazing, but the portions was lacking. Competing pubs in the area charge the same or less and give you more.
Service at this place is for the most part standard and on point. Greeted upon entering and friendly the whole way through. However from time to time you may have a drink order forgotten and inquired about again or you might be missing cutlery when your food arrives.
They do have weekly specials which are a mixed bag, some are alright and some aren't really appealing or much of a deal you'd jump at. They also have weeknight events, like trivia, and comedy nights which is a plus for some.
Overall I would say this pub is in the middle of the road. It's got some potential, but needs some tweaking to be your favorite place for pub-fare. At the moment though, other pubs in the area are beating it...
Read moreI am writing to express my disappointment with my recent experiences at this establishment. On two separate occasions, I encountered issues that left a negative impression. Firstly, I was enjoying food and drinks at the bar when I asked the bartender to keep an eye on my drink while I stepped outside to vape. She agreed, but when I returned and finished my drink, I was confronted by the same bartender who grabbed my arm and insisted that I pay for my drink before leaving. I explained that I was simply going outside to vape again and would return to finish my drink and settle my bill. This interaction was not only embarrassing but also seemed to be racially motivated, as I am a person of color. Furthermore, on my second visit, I accompanied a friend who arrived already intoxicated. Despite this, the same bartender continued to serve him numerous drinks, disregarding the principles of responsible serving practices. When my friend became disruptive, the bartender instructed me to leave with him, citing a non-existent rule. As someone who has completed the Smart Serve program, I was aware that this was not a legitimate requirement. I ultimately arranged for my friend's transportation home and was unable to continue my evening at the establishment. I hope that these incidents will be addressed to prevent similar experiences for...
Read moreI recently visited the taxpayer for the first time, after a night out on St Patrick's day. Our server was extremely friendly and nice. The kitchen was closed, nbd! We went to Milano's next door and ordered some food however we were told we could not bring it into the taxpayer, again nbd. We ate our pizza inside Milano's and headed over afterwards. As I was discarding the box into the trash there were a group of men drinking outside. The manager (maybe owner) came out and spoke to these individuals explaining they could not drink. I proceeded to walk inside as the rest of that group discarded their cans and walked in as well. These guys all walked in and sat down without anyone saying anything to them. However, immediately as I walked in both the manager and bartender came up to me (only me) and began going on about how they thought they saw me drinking outside. I simply explained it wasn't me and the manger even saw that I wasn't drinking outside I also mentioned they should feel free to check their cameras. He summoned me over while waving his finger at me as though I was a dog. It just really upset me, I was the only POC outside and was not doing anything wrong. However, upon entering both these gentleman were berating me as though I was breaking the rules. Nothing was said to any of the other...
