i like coming to this place at night when it turns into more of a nightclub, but today i went for dinner with my brother. it was a very busy evening with the patio being absolutely packed—I think we got the last table outside. the service was VERY slow. we sat ourselves as there was no hostess on duty, then we waited about 20 minutes before a waitress came by. Her attitude was very unfortunate. My brother mispronounced the name of one of their drinks and she laughed at his mistake in a way that seemed mean spirited. She obviously knew what he meant but she felt inclined to make him feel small for a minor mispronunciation. Anyway, she took our drink order and brought the drinks maybe 5 minutes later, then we didn't see her for another 20 minutes after that. Our food came out fast, and what was served was disappointing. I ordered the smoked chicken club sandwich with fries. Overall, it lacked flavour and substance, with the three bread slices really taking over due to the lack of chicken or any other toppings for that matter. The fries were soggy. It wasn't really what you would expect for an $18.95 plate. I personally wouldn't come back here for a lunch or dinner service based on this experience. That being said, I do respect this place as an institution on Elgin street where I have lived for the past 2 years. I like the afterdark vibe here and I used to live in the apartments above so it will always be a sentimental place for me. I just wouldn't...
Read moreI have always loved this pub, and enjoy wing night, brunch, etc. I went last night for their roast, and they sold out by 6:30 - I just missed it (which I completely understand). In place of the Sunday roast I ordered the Lancaster Shaved Prime Rib Sandwich. It's described as "Thin sliced roast beef, bacon, cheddar cheese on a sub bun with au jus." What I received was a dry bun (no butter or spread), with very old/dry meat (that looked microwaved to death), and 2.5 triangles of processed cheese slices. There was no bacon, no 'au jus', or anything with moisture - just dry bun, dry meat, processed cheese. As I always have found the quality excellent, I was shocked by this. I asked the waitress for gravy, which she brought me, and then I asked if there was supposed to be any juice. She did bring me juice, and offered to remake it, however I declined this offer as it was a waste of food. I was able to 'down' half the sandwich, and didn't bother to bring the rest home - it was absolutely not worth it. I am very disappointed in this quality - I didn't think the Lieutenant's Pump would serve anything this bad. I'd appreciate a manager to reach out to me. Until then, I won't be back, nor will I bring anyone as I used...
Read moreI had a terrible experience at this venue, and I will never return. My friends and I used the coat check, but the staff informed us that there were only two hangers left and insisted we stack our coats, giving us one ticket for five jackets. We complied, but what followed was appalling.
At midnight—two hours before the advertised closing time—the music suddenly stopped, and we were forcibly told to leave. Security was aggressive, loudly demanding coat check tickets and forcing people to wait outside in the cold until their coats were retrieved.
One particular security guard, a bearded white man, was incredibly disrespectful and yelled at my fiancée, refusing to let her explain the situation. His behavior was completely unacceptable, especially toward women. When I explained we were told to share one ticket, we were still met with hostility and gaslighting from the security team, who repeatedly questioned my group for no reason.
This experience ruined my best friend’s birthday, and the unprofessionalism of both the staff and security was beyond frustrating. If this venue can’t treat its patrons with basic respect and maintain their advertised hours, they shouldn’t be in business. Avoid this place...
