This was so disappointing, unfortunately. I ordered off of uber eats just now. One thing that was great - customer service. They were out of white rice and called to ask my preference. But the food itself was a let down. Portions are very small. In the picture you can see how little rice there is and how little of the container was actually filled. This would be fine for a lunch menu item priced at $13-$15 dollars, but for a full priced, $25 meal, this was a major let down. My meal was also cold. I was surprised it was delivered so quickly but clearly this means the food was sitting there, and obviously for a while for it to be so cold and have been delivered within the first 15 minutes of ordering. It shoukd have been piping hot. I'd rather have fresh, hot food and wait for it. You can also see in the picture how few vegetables are given. I hadn't even eaten any when I took the picture. All I had was one piece of potato and a fork full of rice. The fact I can see the bottom of the container on a dish this expensive is upsetting. I was really expecting better with all the good reviews and had high hopes because this is the only Caribbean place with curry shrimp around here. Ive now eaten a couple shrimp. They are a bit tough (overcooked) but the flavour isn't bad. The rice is tough and dry though probably because it's been around for a while. It has The consistency of rice that was left in a fridge and reheated without any water or oil to help reintroduce moisture. I'm hoping I just got s bad batch. Maybe if I order during lunch time when things are moving and maybe more fresh it will be better? But right now the dish I've got is not it....
Read moreAbsolutely fantastic food here. If you’re a fan of roti, curry, or jerk chicken, this is the place. Neil, the owner, took the time to carefully explain the menu options . He’s a very friendly fella and ya gotta love the accent. We had “doubles” as an appy and they were terrific. Think of tiny fluffy pitas filled with piping hot chickpeas sauced up however you like (spicy, tamarind, etc). We shared a jerk chicken roti and goat roti and both were amazing and quick. More importantly, all the food was authentic and served very hot. You can tell this dude loves to cook and prepare food for people. Take out or…eat on the bus…a big red double decker! You can go upstairs and sit in the actual original seats reconfigured with tables-the kitchen is on the first deck. There’s even an air conditioner up there. It’s tight, but come on, you’re eating on a bus! Kids would love it. There’s loads of other food items to choose from by the looks of it, but we’d drive over there for the real deal (Trinidad/Tobago) and we live in Luskville! (That’s a 45 minute drive for a Roti, btw). If you’re in the east end anywhere near the Costco or Home Depot off Innes Rd you’re right...
Read moreThis was my first time eating at Upper Deck, and I was blown away by the experience from start to finish. I ordered the oxtail meal with oxtail gravy on the rice, a beef patty, and both the mango drink and the pineapple & ginger drink. Every bite and sip was packed with authentic Caribbean flavor. The oxtail was incredibly tender, and that rich gravy on the rice brought everything together perfectly. The beef patty had a delicious, flaky crust, and both drinks were fresh, flavorful, and refreshing.
What really sets Upper Deck apart, though, is the atmosphere and the care that goes into everything. The upstairs area has an amazing vibe and a great view — it’s the kind of place you want to sit back and enjoy your meal slowly. And learning that Neil, the owner, actually grows the food he cooks? That’s not just impressive — it’s deeply thoughtful and shows how much heart he puts into his restaurant. On top of it all, Neil is incredibly kind and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better.
If you’re looking for delicious, authentic food, a relaxing vibe, and service that feels like home, Upper Deck is the place. Can’t...
