After indulging in numerous delectable offerings at Windbell over the past few months, I have developed a profound appreciation for the exacting culinary standards upheld by its proprietors. In stark contrast to the ubiquitous Canadian establishments that saturate their dishes with the seductive trio of sensory "bliss-point" pleasures—salt, sugar/carbs, and fat—only to leave patrons languishing in post-meal malaise, Windbell's fare stands as a beacon of culinary virtue.
Within the realm of their kitchen, the discerning use of lower-sodium soy sauce illuminates a path towards gastronomic enlightenment. Each dish, lovingly crafted, resonates with the comforting familiarity of home-cooked meals, evoking cherished memories of shared camaraderie and nourishment. Windbell, in its essence, transcends the realm of ordinary dining establishments in Ottawa.
In a world where the fast-food industry has ensnared the masses in a cycle of culinary decadence followed by regrettable self-indulgence, Windbell serves as a sanctuary of authentic flavors. Dining at Windbell is akin to a journey through time, a reverent homage to the exquisite cuisine I once savored at the homes of friends proficient in both Japanese and Chinese culinary traditions. The succulent katsu-style chicken and the ethereal delicacy of tempura awaken dormant senses, painting vivid gastronomic portraits reminiscent of cherished gatherings.
As a Greek by heritage, I hail from a tradition where taverns are sanctuaries of wholesomeness, offering nourishing dishes such as chard greens, green beans, pastitsio, and village salads. Regrettably, the Canadian dining landscape often lacks this vital commitment to holistic well-being. Windbell, however, stands as a vanguard, courageously defying convention and resolutely upholding the mantle of health-conscious dining.
In Windbell, I find solace, a respite from the overwhelming tide of culinary mediocrity that pervades the Canadian restaurant scene. Their dedication to a healthier culinary narrative is nothing short of inspirational, a refreshing gust of wind in the otherwise stagnant waters of the dining industry. I extend my heartfelt wishes for their continued success, grateful for the oasis of culinary authenticity they have...

In today's sushi-saturated world, it's all too easy to forget the artistry and passion that originally defined sushi-making. Windbell Sushi stands out as a beacon, rekindling my profound appreciation for sushi in all its authenticity.
Nestled in Kanata, Windbell Sushi, while primarily a take-out establishment, also offers inviting eat-in tables. Run by a passionate couple, their dedication to sushi craftsmanship radiates throughout every facet of their business. From the meticulously designed interior of the shop to the genial ambiance, it’s evident that every element is crafted with love and care.
The true highlight, however, is the food. Dining in, the Salmon Combo I indulged in was a symphony of flavors and freshness, breaking away from the mundane, store-bought sushi that's become so ubiquitous. Windbell crafts each piece with care, offering perfectly tempered rice, remarkably fresh salmon, and innovative sushi variations that carry a distinctive handcrafted touch. Not to be outdone, my wife relished the Pokeball Tuna. An exquisite medley of avocado, mango, tuna, cucumber, and bean salad, harmoniously tied together with an exceptionally flavorful sauce.
For those yearning for sushi that encapsulates its true essence and spirit, Windbell Sushi in Kanata is the go-to spot, whether you're dining in or taking out. It’s a gastronomic journey that reminded me of the sheer joy sushi once brought to me. Thoroughly...
Read moreI'm unbelievably upset today with what I received from a delivery service. The last time I frequented this place with my husband we got take out and it was incredibly delicious, fast and friendly service. And it held up very well on our 30 minute drive home. I really wanted to make this my new take out place! My previous rating would have been a 5! Today my "crispy" rolls were stale no crunch to them at all. The packaging was closed on my sushi, and although I paid almost 1.80$ for extra spicy mayo (which I didn't mind) I didn't get any soy sauce for the rest of my rolls. Just disappointed that my sushi tasted like it had been sitting in a fridge all day. If that's what I was looking for I'd buy it at the grocery store, not spend over $25 for 16 pieces of sushi. (Half of them being just cucumber.) Just for clarification there was more drive time for my way home than the time it took to be delivered so it's not at all that it sat with the driver too long. I'm hoping that if we decide to give this place another try that we have a...
