barBURRITO — Restaurant in Parksville

They have a serious issue with filling up the bowls here compared to the Nanaimo locations. Then they try and upcharge you when you ask them to fill it up. Then argues with me when I point out the bowl is only 3/4 full. We never have had this issue at the Nanaimo location. My wife had just ordered a bowl right before me and hers was twice as full. (Built by a different employee)

Will not be back to this location and I recommend you go to the one in north Nanaimo if you want decent service and serving size for your money.

Incredibly embarrassing.

EDIT: Oddly enough after my review, a bunch of 5 star ratings came in, even though they usually only get one or two reviews per month. Even more odd, is that one of the reviews mentions an unhappy customer and that the staff "handled themselves very well!" Clearly referring to me.

There is no way a customer could have heard the conversation or what the staff even did in response, which leads me to believe they are now soliciting fake reviews from people.

The incident took place after I ordered a large bowl. We get to the end of the line where it's done being built, and I notice the bowl is barely just over half filled. Something that never happens at the Nanaimo locations, yet repeatedly happens in Parksville. A smattering of lettuce, and probably a tablespoon of tomato on top. The two cheapest ingredients.

I ask for more lettuce and tomato, and say "Can you please fill the bowl up?" He throws a little bit more lettuce on, and then sticks his ENTIRE hand into the tomatoes, grabs a handful, holds them up to me in a fist and says "I'm going to charge you extra for these!" Completely unprovoked. I'm shocked at that point to say the least.

That's the point when I said out loud I was unhappy with the service and would not be returning to this location, and that based on the other reviews here I'm not the only one to experience this. I had not said a word until that point. Because let's be real, that is incredibly unprofessional, and never once have I been treated like that at any other BarBurrito location, let alone...

What a lovely dining experience we had!

My 3yo daughter was greeted and offered some sweets. The 2 workers were friendly energetic and great with explaining their menu and sauces. Dare I say this was better service here than a sit down restaurant where you're expected to tip.

We went with the bang bang shrimp bowl and beef burrito. And they made my daughter a chicken quesadilla ( just the way she likes, just tiny bit of small shredded chicken and cheese). I LOVED the bang bang shrimp! Battered perfectly with a really nice tangy sauce. They also have a pineapple salsa which worked great in my bowl. My husband devoured his burrito. Safe to say he liked it too! It was our first time here while visiting parksville. I would 100% seek out one closer to us when we get back home!

Much better than quesada and muchoburrito. Fresher than chronic taco. And no GI issues after unlike chipotle ( lol tmi sorry!)

It's very important to check out restaurants and not relying reviews. My wife and I decided to try Mexican food this evening so we seen the reviews and were less than expressed, that being said I will check out barBURRIRO they just opened a new store a few months ago. Glad I took the chance because and not relying on opinions. So I Ordered a Burrito " large"( I'm a big fella ) and I was absolutely impressed just how good it was, everything was very clean & Fresh and my wife being vegetarian was very impressed on her dish as well. So complaints were staff were slow or unfriendly.Yes we had to wait as well, but it was dinner time so that's expected also found the staff we very pleasant and people were asking what's this or what's that while trying to prepare orders.
