A&W Canada — Restaurant in Parksville

I wish I could give a better review. I’m sad to say the service in this establishment is poor. You might get better service from their takeout window then you will inside. I came here in late April, only a handful of customers in the store, and I had a 40 minute wait on a teen meal. I’m not sure if all the staff walked out but only two on the floor, one in front one in the back at that time. I felt bad for the them, you could sympathize for them working like that. The other week I went in again with my friend this time in early December for dinner, the restaurant is empty. There are more people working this time, looks like three in the back and three upfront. My friend orders for eating in, my turn was next, the server taking orders at the til, sees me and walks 6 feet away from the til and starts having an argument with their colleague, he can see I am waiting to order. I’ve never asked if I can be served but there is a first for everything, he rolls his eyes and gives me a blunt attitude. Half the restaurant is blocked off with a chair barricade. I suppose I can understand, but it’s not welcoming for customers to dine in. My friend approached the service counter to ask if our table could be cleaned table and chairs are sticky from previous customers, there was a used jam package at our table, I’m only guessing that was left from breakfast. The server hands my friend a few dry paper napkins as that was sufficient to cleaning a used table. They will refused to provide cleanup service to the eating area. This was the worst experience I have had , the staff were talking laughing while taking orders , slow , rude , then once I placed my order , they gave me a number , then I sat down , I waited 20 mins probably more , and still nothing ( I ordered fries and an apple pie) , the staff were aware of me and served everyone else but me , once all customers were served , I went up to the till , they acted as if they didn’t know what my order was , they must have the worse memory since he was the one that took my order , long story short , after another 10 mins , I finally got my refund I demanded . One nice staff member an older woman , told them to give me my food anyways , the other staff looked clueless , and like they had never worked the job before, 3 staff members later , I received my refund and my food. This A/W wasn’t by choice , I saw the horrible reviews, I am waiting for my car to be done , so had to kill some time , next time I’ll find a bench and gas station food over this place any day ! Experience happened today July 29th around 930am at the Parksville BC Canada location off the main hwy. The only thing good about this place was that it was clean and tidy in the restaurant itself. I ordered a sausage and egg mcmuffin but got bacon instead. I told them as soon as I noticed and I was told "I should have watched the screen". As well as "you don't like bacon?" Uh, no... If I wanted bacon I would have ordered bacon. Complete refusal to make a new one unless I paid. The ppl that came in behind me had their lid come off as they first picked up their order thus having pancakes fall out. They were told it was their fault as well. I would have gone somewhere else but I was specifically there to meet family i hadn't seen in years and I didn't want to completely ruin the experience.
