if I could give no stars I would. Called ahead of time to make a reservation for a special occasion, discussed with the person on the phone that we wanted a more intimate table to set the mood for the occasion. Anyways, we get seated to our table and everything is fine at first and then I realize there is no music playing in the restaurant and you can hear all the chatter between tables and the servers. At one point the two served even said how it was so quiet in the restaurant with no music on but still doesn’t put any music on, so the whole entire time we could just hear the chatter between the servers and the tables around us. Definitely not a nice atmosphere for what was supposed to be a special occasion. Anyhow, we all get to ordering, I would rate this place pub style food at best, the pizza we ordered literally had two slices that had cheese dumped onto the two slices. So it looked like the chef just accidentally dropped to much cheese on the two slices and didn’t care to disperse or fix it at all. Was to greasy couldn’t even finish the pizza. The pork hock dish was not fresh, tasted and smelt like old pork. Was sent back immediately upon coming to the table. It just wasn’t good at all. The whole experience. I’m surprised it has such high reviews, but I heard they changed management. Food was overpriced, food was below sub par, and service was lack lustre. Would not recommend. Not once were we seen by a manager or supervisor to see how we are doing or anything, even the service sucked. If you run out of water don’t expect them to fill it without you asking them to come and do it. I don’t know who trained these servers but honestly, they all need to be retrained in basic customer service and...

Quite possibly the worst dining experience in the Okanogan!

Excited to arrive at the unique building and in awe of the patio and theme. Cold , short welcome by host who ran ahead of us to the table and basically rushed past us to return to his post. Rude, absent, sloppy service across the board. Waitress basically took our order and that was a stretch for her capabilities. Food runner was pleasant but in need of grooming. Hostess cleared dishes reaching across with long hair and taking plates before finishing was annoying. Empty water and drink glasses were no clue for anyone that visited the table. Meals were not the delicious food described by other reviews! Crab Stuffed mushrooms arrived cold with equally cold hard fried strips of schnitzel. Cold fries and dry greasy fish , dry Weiner schnitzel with what tasted and resembled a can of mushroom soup plopped on top. Cold hard roasted potatoes and almost raw huge parsnips that could not even be cut with a knife.

The worst apple strudel ever! Even sharing the dessert it was left unfinished!

Not once did the waitress ask how things were while we were eating!! To top it all off, our ( expensive) bill was plopped on the table without a thank-you! The only reason I left a tip at all is because I assume that the restaurant takes a percentage. Looking back maybe that having to pay to serve us might have been a lesson learned. But I really don't think so.

No goodbye and thank you from the door as we left either.

Bathroom was very dirty. The view was lovely through the...

As an Autistic person (or a person on the Autism Spectrum), I have an extremely difficult time finding restaurants that can accommodate my needs - specifically my audio hypersensitivity to music involving snare drums and electrical guitars. Thus, I pay special attention to restaurants that are accommodating and truly inclusive. My husband told the server, Tuesday, about my audio hypersensitivity to music involving snare drums and electrical guitars and inquired whether the volume can be turned down. In response to my husband’s inquiry, Tuesday changed the type of music being played to classical music that naturally was lower in volume and asked me whether I am ok with the change. I definitely approved the change in the type of music being played and am grateful for that. No other restaurant I have been to has changed the type of music being played to accommodate my audio hypersensitivity!

As for the food, it was delicious and the portion sizes were gigantic such that I took out some leftovers and even my husband was full after eating! My husband has a very big appetite such that he is usually hungry after eating at a restaurant due to the typically small portion sizes, and yet was full after eating an extra large pork hock at Gasthaus. I ordered the half duck and we shared an appetizer - bratwurst and sauerkraut. For dessert, Tuesday recommended the sticky toffee pudding, which was so delicious. Excellent recommendation and...

Update: 2nd visit was like day & night. What happened to the cook? The "meat" seemed to have disappeared in the Jäger Schnitzel's batter, the mushrooms looked and tasted like straight out of a Campbell's watery soup can. The Spätzli I grew up with looked nothing I had ever tasted or seen before. This was not an authentic "German/Swiss" meal except for the price, we felt cheated. I do know too many Canadians don't really care for the acquired taste of flavourful specialties such as Schnitzel and Spätzli. We were celebrating a special Birthday & made reservations accordingly indicating it was a Special Day. Well the Gasthaus team couldn't care less what we were celebrating, but that isn't really their fault, it's the owners and their managers. I suggest they take lessons from the Cactus Club in Kelowna where the Food is fresh, exquisite, as is the Service and the customers get treated with a sweet Dessert when you celebrate your special Day. Why not treat your customers with a "Thank you for choosing our place to celebrate your special day"! What have you got to lose? Well, you lost this customer. We had lunch there in early May on a warm sunny day. The service was great, the food was appealing, delicious and divine. The Gasthaus atmosphere is something I grew with in the Swiss Alps, as well as the flavourful dishes, it triggered many sweet wonderful memories.
