We heard that Porto Peach was now open, so stopped in to support a local business. Our drink order was simple, one iced tea, one green tea and two waters. There was no green tea though we were told that the restaurant would be ordering some as a few people were asking for it. Our lunch order was Spaghetti and meatballs, garden burger, Denver omelette and power salad. After 35 minutes, our server appeared to tell us that they had no garden burgers so my friend changed her order to a chicken burger. Another 20 minutes passed before the spaghetti, omelette and salad were served. My friend waited another 10 minutes for the chicken burger to arrive. The burger was comprised of a chicken breast cut into three pieces and stacked on a bun and four French fries. Our server commented to our friend,” I don’t know how you’re going to eat that.” The burger was too tall to eat and had to be disassembled, the chicken was completely dried out and tasteless, had no sauce or condiments and the fries were tasteless. The omelette was very small and oily, the one thin slice of white toast (no choice of bread) was dried out and came with no butter, jam or peanut butter. The salad was adequate and our friend thought the spaghetti was good. Our total bill was $82, ridiculous for small portions and...
Read moreI really want to like Porto Peach.
We’ve done 4 times for breakfast and four times I’ve had to send my meal back. The serving staff are really lovely and friendly, but if you can’t remember what we asked for, write it down. Today I sent my meal back two times. Asked for sunny side up eggs, got over easy. Then they came back not cooked almost at all. Asked for rye toast got sourdough. Wife asked for hollandaise on the side, yup, you guessed it, served on the eggs. The hash browns were stale and old. The elements are all there to make this a “knock it out of the park” place to eat breakfast but the delivery just isn’t there. The kitchen has churned out cold food every time we’ve gone to where we have to make a point of asking for it to be hot - and even then. Finally, it is not an inexpensive proposition to eat out. We rarely do it because it’s so expensive these days, so if we are going to come to your restaurant and spend our hard earned money, then the service has got to be there. When mistakes do happen (we get that) show me you appreciate my business. After my meal went back twice and more than half the order was wrong, not even the...
Read moreI'm a little biased toward supporting anything in Peachland, so take my review with a grain of salt, I guess. I also see that of the few reviews this brand new establishment has gotten, they are mostly of people who had issues (understandable for any new restaurant starting up) while a majority of satisfied patrons saw no reason to go onto Google Maps and leave a review.
Food was reasonably good. We had one issue with our order, but it was rectified immediately.
The service was excellent. Very attentive and cheerful wait staff.
This is such a great location; great atmosphere with the doors wide open on a nice day. Over the years I've seen a number of previous restaurants/bistros/cafes struggle there (one issue I'm aware of is that the kitchen is quite small). I wish the new owners well and hope Peachland residents and visitors have some patience during the...
