The one thing missing since I moved to the area is diversity in food options. I love Carribean food, especially Oxtail and it has been years since I have had any. So when I saw that Northern Caribbean Restaurant opened in Penetang and the great reviews this is what I wanted for our Anniversary dinner. THEY DID NOT DISAPPOINT!
The portions are huge, lets start there. Loads of the main in both of our orders. I had the Oxtail Dinner and my husband had the Jerk Chicken. Our containers were overflowing. And not just with sides. The rice was so flavourful and perfectly cooked. The Oxtail most definitely is the best I have had. Perfectly spiced, hot enough without being overpowering. I love heat and this was perfect. The flavours just kept hitting my mouth one after another. You know the meal was epic when your mouth is still popping with flavour well after you ate.
My husband loved the Jerk Chicken, his portion was huge, again the rice was amazing.
We also got beef patties for a late night snack and I will update later when we eat them lol. But they smell so good.
As for the Restaurant itself, my hubby oicked up but used their washroom while thwre and said the restraunt was so clean all through. The staff was friendly and the service great. They have both eat in and take out options.
The prices are incredible! Less that $20.00 for an adult to eat with leftovers to spare
This is absolutely my new go to Restaurant ! Go check them out and support this wonderful...
Read moreIt was a great experience. We got there later, so they were running low on a few things (tells you how good it is!). I wanted Curry Goat, but they didn't have enough left for a proper serving. I switched to Jerk Chicken (comes with rice and beans and coleslaw). They scooped the small bit of goat from the bottom of the pot and sent it home with me as a sampler. It did not disappoint. The same thing happened with my daughter. She wanted Oxtail, but again they were running out, so she had a split order of that and Jerk Chicken. And her partner just opted for the Jerk Chicken. The servings were generous. I couldn't finish all of mine, and if you've ever seen me with West Indian food, you will know that is a rare thing. The gentlemen behind the counter were super nice. The restaurant is CLEAN and bright. The food was very flavourful and good! If you are a fan of the hotter version of Caribbean cuisine, you will likely want to add a bit of hot sauce. I'm sure they are being on the cautious side with the heat until they gauge their audience. I will definitely go back soon - and I'll call ahead to make sure I get my Goat! LOL. It so nice the have the flavour of the West Indies so close to...
Read moreSo FYI, everybody I am here to report that not only did they not have the dumplings I wanted and on the menu they forget my coleslaw with my large oxtail, I get home to eat it and I must say it was by far the worst tasting toughest oxtail I have ever had! There was so much really hard fatty fat on it the meat that was present was so tough. I could not rip it from neither the fat or the bone! I paid $20 plus taxes for a large oxtail, which I went to another town to get to end up feeding it to my dog because When I called them and I told them how unpleased I was with my oxtail, the lady on the phone proceeds to tell me that she apologizes that I was unpleased with my meal but there is nothing she can do to compensate me for any of it whatsoever!!! Including my coleslaw which I paid for and never received Unbelievable so pissed right now. Spread the word, my friends northern Caribbean restaurant in penetanguishene, Ontario, Canada is complete waste of money! I guess you could say this is me writing a bad...
