We had decided to come here after visiting the website and noting it was “child friendly.” We were meeting family here on the patio for the first time in a year due to COVID, so we had called ahead to make sure they had a high chair for our son. They assured us they did. When we arrived, the hostess was horribly rude. Seemingly exasperated by doing her job. She informed us they couldn’t use the wooden high chairs “because of COVID” which is laughable, as wood is a wipeable surface. She just repeated herself, continued to be dismissive and incredibly rude. We left and went somewhere else in town and had a wonderful experience. Don’t go here if you want good service.
Reply to owner’s response: Thank you for taking the time to respond to us. I would like to address a couple of things you mentioned - in asking my husband he did confirm that he called the sister restaurant, so I apologize. However, the hostess addressing us the day we were there did not mention any of the information you had. Her interaction with us went something along the lines of “We don’t have high chairs. We can’t use the high chairs because of COVID.” Her tone harsh and rude, and she rolled her eyes at us. We did not DEMAND anything. My husband and I are quite mild mannered people. We asked if high chairs were available. My husband then, confused said we had called ahead, and she again, very short with us said we had made a mistake. I understand you may have been very busy that day, it seems like a very popular place from our searches and the patio looked like a great place to be that day - however, the way we were addressed then, and quite frankly by your comments to my review are incredibly rude. And in searching the other reviews on google it seems like your hostess does indeed have an attitude problem that may need to be addressed. I have never left a negative review of a place before but the way we were treated left me very upset. I’m sure you have lovely food, but you need to work on your customer service. We in fact went to your sister’s restaurant and they were INCREDIBLY friendly, responsive and it was a joy to eat there - you could learn a thing or two from...
Read moreArrived at 1020am to only 5 of 9 tables being used by other paytrons. The other tables were clean and ready for other paytrons to be used. When my husband and I arrived the waitress was waiting on a table and motioned us to sit at a table for 2. We stayed at the door waiting till she was done at the table she was serving as we had another couple joining us, thus needing a table for 4. Our friends were just gassing up their truck down the street so would be there in 10 or 15 mins. We were just going to sit and have a coffee and look over the menu until our friends arrived to join us. The waitress said that we couldn’t be seated until our friends arrived. She explained that they have a policy that they don’t seat people until the whole group is present, because it’s a small restaurant. Neither of us or our friends have ever heard of this concept, nor do we understand it. We stayed anyway and enjoyed our meals and did tip the waitress (as this policy isn’t her fault), however our experience with this policy of theirs put a real bad taste in our mouths and thus we won’t be returning.
Any other restaurant we have been to (regardless of the size) caters to the patron(s) that comes in at the time and doesn’t wait for the potential higher group # of patrons to cater to first/instead…which was the only reasoning we could think of. Which doesn’t even make sense in this scenario anyway as when we arrived 3 of the 4 person tables were being used by 2 patrons per table.
We like the owners story and their breakfast’s are excellent. We have gone here for breakfast on other occasions and have never experienced this rule there before so we assume it’s a new rule. None of us will be returning to this restaurant because of how we were treated (due to this policy).
Upon leaving we noticed the sign (picture attached), advising of...
Read moreMy husband I just moved to the area over the summer and had been meaning to stop in for a while. We came for breakfast and it was phenominal, i'm pretty sure I skipped my way out the door when we were done I enjoyed it so much. I had the breakfast poutine and my husband had the Nashville benny. YES, you wait a little bit longer for your food. Was it worth it? YES! I will always wait longer for fresh food, made with care, over the fastest meal option (fast usually means pre-made and/or deepfried). The breakfast poutine, with curds, bacon, onions, hollandaise and onions, and sunnyside up egg, somehow did not taste greasy at all (the waitress told us everything is made to order on the grill, not deepfried). The Nashville benny had a generous sized piece of chicken, great bread, cheese, hollandaise and the homefries were great. Coffee was pretty decent and I loved that everything wasn't overly salty. All in all I will definitely be coming back. A note about seating: for me it is not abnormal/unheard of to wait until your whole group is there to be seated. The place isn't huge and its busy (for a reason, its delicious and they're making everything to order) seating half of your group to sit there (and not order) while they wait for the rest of their group, takes seating away from other...
